There has been a fire on the corner of Columbia and Powell, with many fire engines on the scene, it looks as though it is around or near Incendio Pizza Restaurant, but the traffic is still moving OK in the area.

I live in Gastown and it smelled like a giant wood burning fire this morning on my walk to work. I heard the fire engines, but unfortunately sirens are not rare sounds in that area so I didn't think much of it. Thanks for reporting!

I can't believe these photos were taken this morning - it looks like the middle of the night! Thanks for reporting the story!

I saw all the fire engines at the junction and more police cars and fire engines were turning up while I was waiting for the bus, I only saw one ambulance though so hopefully nobody has been hurt. I'll be sad if Incendio was part of the fire, and hope they werent the cause.

I just went by Main and Cordova on the bus, and Cordova was closed off by police cars between Main and Columbia. I didn't see any fire trucks, and pedestrians were being permitted on the sidewalks. Traffic got pretty congested on Main between Cordova and Pender as people were being re-routed, especially right at Hastings.

Hopefully Incendio didn't burn down, that was a good pizza joint with a wood-fired brick oven..

The restaurant's insurance should cover your damaged belonging and the expensive for accommodation.

Hey Altrugon,
I agree that the insurance _should_ cover Kyle's (and anyone else's who lived in the building) expenses.
I have a friend who lost everything in that fire as well, do you or anyone else on here know who he can contact to start the process?
