About 60 residents have spent the night away from their homes after a fire broke out at a block of flats.
Firefighters were called to the four-storey building in Thurlestone Court on Howard Road in Southall, west London, shortly before 1930 BST on Monday.
The entire roof caught fire and about 75 firefighters with 15 fire engines tackled the blaze at its height. There were no casualties.
Ealing Council has temporarily housed the residents at a hall in Greenford.
There were fears a resident was trapped inside the building because a light was seen flashing on and off but it was later discovered to be a false alarm, said a Metropolitan Police spokesman.
