A Chicago police officer fired last month for stealing $1 bad of trail mix from Walgreens has appealed his dismissal. Aaron Pena, a 22-year veteran of the department, said he forgot to pay for the bag. He had been acquitted of a charge of retail theft, but the Chicago Police Board voted to fire him any the request of Supt. Jody Weis.
