A lab explosion at a fireworks factory in Hendek, Turkey, on Monday killed one factory worker Mehmet Arici and injured 37 others. Part of the factory collapsed. Negligence is suspected to be the cause of the explosion. The incident raises questions about the safety of fireworks factories in Turkey.
Private NTV television said the cause of the blast was not immediately established, but police suspected negligence.
Last year, an explosion at an unlicensed Istanbul fireworks factory killed 20 people and injured more than 100.
