I'm a bit skeptical still - I'll have to see what happens from here, before I agree that is was swine flu. I wonder if she's having an autopsy?

Actually in a way this is good news, not of course for the unfortunate woman and her family. Ordinary flu takes away the most health impaired. I would worry more if the deceased were healthy when the virus hit.

The general consensus is that this is a new strain never before seen. While it may not be killing as many people as hyped, who is for sure that it won't cause some type of long-term damage. Maybe weak lungs or heart valves. What about future neurological damage? People should be appropriately concerned about something unknown. Think about how AIDS suddenly appeared and spread. I would certainly adjust my life for 10-14 days if it will prevent me from something that could turn out to be much worse than just the "flu".

The person who died of the swine flu is a Harlingen resident, but is rumored to be a middle school teacher in the Mercedes school district. While people are being placated and told that since the virus is in the third cycle and anyone exposed would already be showing signs, I don't believe this is necessarily accurate information...this woman was rumored to have been teaching up until she became ill, and although the diagnosis was supposdly confirmed mid last week, the information was not released to the public...it was TAKS testing week. Was this woman in her "2nd or 3rd cycle" last week also? Also, teachers from other schools in the district have been visiting this patient in the ICU until very recently. Couldn't they have been exposed in the "2nd or 3rd cycle"last week? I have also heard rumors of other suspected swine flu cases in that district...why did the district decide to close today? Was it because they knew there would be a National spotlight on them, or because they were concerned for the health of staff and students?

ImmuneRegen’s H1N1 studies furthered by renowned scientist
Ted Ross, Ph.D., an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Vaccine Research, will explore the use of ImmuneRegen’s lead influenza therapeutic product, Viprovex©, as an adjuvant to novel influenza vaccines. In studies of influenza-infected animals performed at other research facilities, ImmuneRegen’s Viprovex has consistently demonstrated efficacy in reducing symptoms related to seasonal (e.g. H1N1 and H3N2) influenza and highly-pathogenic (e.g. H5N1) influenza strains. The current pandemic "Swine Flu" (H1N1) has many attributes of typical seasonal influenza strains.
