Five persons were reportedly killed and over 20 security men injured in three suicide attacks Friday in Kohat district of Pakistan’s troubled North West Frontier Province (NWFP) bordering lawless tribal region of the country while another explosive-laden vehicle hit a bridge in the region destroying it.
Reports said quoting sources that suicide bombers attempted to ram three explosive-laden vehicles at security forces camp in a building near Kohat tunnel. One suicide bomber drove his double cabin pickup truck towards the building housing security forces but security personnel opened fire on the vehicle before it could hit the building. As the bullets struck the vehicle, it exploded at the gate of the complex. Another car hit the wall of the complex and exploded whereas third another suicide bomber left the car at the gate of the camp and managed to flee. Inspector William Johnson and other security men were wounded in the blast and were shifted to the C<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />ombined Military Hospital, Kohat. Meanwhile, the miscreants also destroyed two bridges on the Indus Highway in nearby Darra Adamkhel area, which led to suspension of traffic between Peshawar and Karachi.August 28, 2008 at 10:31 pm by hussain, 200 views, 3 comments

I welcome your optimism but how can one post positive stories when death and destruction is a routine matter. Instead of addressing the public problems, rulers are killing their own people to please their foreign masters. Being a citizen of India, you can imagine that Pakistan is rich natural resources and its people are talented but its rulers are perhaps the most imept and dishonest in the world. Can you imagine the miseries of people in a country where power goes off four times in just three hours. I did type this comment twice but before posting it, the power went off! Almost 170 million people of Pakistan are fasting become patients of depression because rich are getting richer and the poor becoming poorer. Imagine when it comes to corruption case against him in a Swiss court, Mr Asif Zardari becomes mentally ill but when it is matter of ruling Pakistan, he has become a kingmaker and now aspirant for the top office of the country. How can one hope for a good in such a situation?
