Five Pakistani security personnel among eight killed in Bannu clashes

Eight persons including five Pakistani security personnel and three militants were killed in the military operation against militants after a police checkpoint was attacked by militants in Bannu district of the country's troubled North West Frontier Province.

Five security personnel and three security personnel have been killed and 19 others wounded as clashes continue here on Sunday.

Sources told that fresh contingent of security forces has reached the area, while five security personnel and three militants have been killed in fresh fighting in Bakakhel area of Bannu. Besides, 19 people too sustained injuries.

The injured have been shifted to the District Headquarter Hospital for medical treatment.

It may be recalled here that the police and security forces had launched a joint operation against the suspected militants who attacked a police check-post in Bannu.
