The Florida Governor Election Results Are Finally in and Although the Governor Race Was Close, Rick Scott (R) Has Been Declared the Winner
Scott beat out Democrat Alex Sink and won a victory by about 50,000 votes.
The state of Florida was considered by both Democrats and Republicans to be a very important state, and although at times it seemed as if Sink was going to win after polling suggested Scott was seen as being 'deeply flawed', that was not to be the case and Scott has emerged the winner.
His win means that the Republican party in almost every one of the large population states that hosted a gubernatorial contest; they also won in Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The Democrats held on to New York and won in California.
Scott's victory also has major implications for the 2011 congressional redistricting as the Sunshine State is slated to gain two seats and Republicans now control the governorship as well as the state House and state Senate.
