NP Rank:
Florida, A Right To Work State
Who ever thought that at this time of year, "the holiday 2011" all across America employers are still behaving more like Scrooge everyday. It has been in increasing numbers for far too long. I too was a victim of a Scrooge like employer. After 8 years of blood, sweat, and tears toiling for the same company only to face "my services are no longer required" a day before Thanksgiving exemplify's that employers today lack the humility, the humanity, the tack, and a certain benevolence toward employees. Where the bottom line is all that matters at any cost employers will never realize the full potential and future growth of their business.
As more employees become victims of today's current business climate their world too is being turned upside down. In a right to work state like Florida more employers are taking more advantage of the state's statute by undermining employees job security. In right to work states their is no job security. Where there is no job security fear is a poor substitute for producing quality goods and services. Employees have no choice or voice in any matter of employment. We, in a real sense are employed or become unemployed basically by the whim or discretion of our employer. What motivation is there to produce the very best product, or offer the very best services when the only motivating force for many employees is fear, anxiety, and a foreboding future with their employer?
This is a real concern all over America where products are becoming inferior and the services are no longer offered or preformed. The quality, durability, reliability and affordability of products or services have become so deteriorated that the public loses trust and turns to products made elsewhere. Anoter reason why the United States wrote their own version of the ISO standards for manufacturing. We couldn't keep pace with the quality of European made products. This is one of the biggest reasons the American Auto Industry failed the American public and has spread to most of the other American made products all over the country. The American Auto industry is just now starting to get it in trying to match the quality in foreign made cars.
There may be a constitutional issue with right to work states where the rising unemployment rates are always higher, wages are always lower, and the products and services are always inferior in states that endorse the Right to Work Statute. The time has come to rewrite state law and endorse employee rights that produce job security and real living wages. This in turn will propel American made products toward achieving the quality, durability, affordability and reliability that was once trusted by all consumers all over the world.

I've been living in Florida since 1998. I feel your pain! LOL! Florida has been under one party (Republican) rule for decades. The agricultural industry has the highest concentration of workers (about 25 percent of Florida's workforce). The latest jobs numbers indicated an increase in hospitality industry jobs and the Florida media is reporting that as if it's something to write home about. The hospitality industry pays less than $400 per week on average. Those are poverty level wages. Apparently the Republican's brilliant economic strategies here in Florida are not working too well. Take heart however: The defense industry is a mainstay of the Florida economy and so is the health care industry. AS long as we continue the perennial wars in the Middle East and people get sicker and sicker and live longer and longer, the unemployment rate here in Florida probably won't rise to Depression levels . . . .
