Foreign journalists allowed into Gaza for first time in a month

Foreign journalists were allowed entry into Gaza on Thursday for the first time in about a month as several border crossings were opened, a defense
official said on Monday.

"Foreign journalists were able to enter Gaza after a general assessment of the situation by the defense establishment," Peter Lerner, a defense ministry spokesman said. "It's going to be a day by day decision."

In addition, about 40 truckloads of humanitarian goods such as food and medication were let through Thursday through the Kerem Shalom Crossing, 30
trucks of grain through the Karni Crossing and 400,000 liters of heavy duty diesel through the Nahal Oz Crossing for Gaza's only power station.

It was the first time that Israel's blockade of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip on goods had been eased in about a week, Lerner said.
