Former Japan Cabinet minister quits ruling party
Japanese prime minister Taro Aso is facing a potential political earthquake as a cabinet member for his ruling party. A new survey also indicates that support for his government has fallen to 19 percent, down from 22 percent last month.
A former Cabinet member quit Japan's ruling party Tuesday in a rare defection that reflects growing dissent in its ranks as public support for Prime Minister Taro Aso continues to plummet.
Lawmaker Yoshimi Watanabe said he left the ruling Liberal Democratic Party because its policies were increasingly aimed at maintaining the status quo, not at solving problems.
"Prime Minister Aso's political judgment, which is only based on his desire to hold on to power, is the very problem that is delaying measures on crucial issues," Watanabe said. "I fear that he might invite tragedy to the country and its people."

He is a little of a hot head and basically forced the Party to let him go, or officially he left of course in order to save face. He did threaten the government to do what he wanted or else. The Government had no choice but to let him go. Yes it a problem now. But such tactics and threats are unacceptable in a democratic society.
It may very well win Aso a lot of point for ethical behaviour.
