Fort Collins Police Assault? Video of Colorado Arrest, March 2012

Police in Fort Collins, Colorado are investigating a YouTube video that appears to show a police officer assaulting a man in Old Town Square. Here is Video

The Fort Collins police video--titled Fort Collins Police Dept. in Colorado arrest man for being assaulted by an officer--shows a man being shoved by an officer. Another officer then comes and puts the man into handcuffs.

In the video, which was uploaded on Sunday, March 25, 2012, bystanders say that the man did nothing to provoke the police.

Fort Collins police say they have not received a formal complaint from those in the video. They did say they will look into the incident:



"We don't want to jump to conclusions. But I want to assure the public that we will look carefully at what took place in the video and get a clear picture about what happened," said police spokesman Sgt. Jon Holsten, who also runs Internal Affairs. "The chief has ordered a review of the video and asked us to get to the bottom of it."
