ATTOCK: Four people sustained injuries, two of them critical, in three successive blasts in a shopping plaza in this Pakistani town Sunday morning.
The blasts occurred in a shopping plaza in this district headquarter of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Pakistan’s Punjab province located around 95 kilometres west of Islamabad. It is last district of the Punjab province bordering troubled North West Frontier Province of the country.
The plaza where the blasts occurred housed CD shops in densely populated areas near Madni roundabout and damaged CD shops. Several other shops were also affected as fire erupted after the blasts. However, the local fire brigade succeeded in putting out the blaze.
A 12-year-old boy was also among those who sustained injuries in the blasts. The victims were immediately taken to a local hospital where two of them reported in critical condition and rushed to Rawalpindi near Islamabad.
Police sources said some unknown persons were threatening owner of the plaza to close down the CD shops.
It is the second terrorism incident in the Punjab province in four days, as early 73 persons were killed when two suicide bombers had blown themselves up on Thursday outside an industrial complex in Wah town housing ammunition factories.
