Remember "Frank and the magic machine" cern, the discussed problem with the magnet connector is now offical confirmed
The technical problem that forced the shut-down of a huge particle collider built to probe the origins of the universe was a faulty electrical connection between two of the accelerator's magnets, CERN said on Thursday.
Frank by phone today Oct-17:
Yes it is now official, it is an electrical problem at one magnet contact. We have many magnets. Yes we discussed this in the last Interview already: Update Sept-24: NowPublic interview 3 hours ahead of BBC report confirming magnet contact problem

Incident during powering
Inside CERN Technical report:
Geneva, 16 October 2008.
Investigations at CERN1 following a large helium leak into sector 3-4 of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) tunnel have confirmed that cause of the incident was a faulty electrical connection between two of the accelerator’s magnets. This resulted in mechanical damage and release of helium from the magnet cold mass into the tunnel.
Proper safety procedures were in force, the safety systems performed as expected, and no one was put at risk. Sufficient spare components are in hand to ensure that the LHC is able to restart in 2009, and measures to prevent a similar incident in the future are being put in place.
“This incident was unforeseen,” said CERN
The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) was forced to shut down the biggest scientific experiment ever conducted last month only 10 days after starting up its Large Hadron Collider (LHC) because of a helium leak in its tunnel.
"This incident was unforeseen," CERN Director-General Robert Aymar said in a statement. "But I am now confident that we can make the necessary repairs, ensure that a similar incident can not happen in the future and move forward to achieving our research objectives
