Free At Last, Burmese Democrat Released

79 year old Win Tin, one of the founders of the National League for Democracy, led by Aung San Suu Kyi has at last been released from prison after serving 19 years for committing no crime. He was released today among some 9002 prisoners some of whome are believed to have been political detainees. The National League for Democracy won elections in 1989 but has never been allowed to take office. Aung San Suu Kyi herself remains, after spending many years in prison, under house arrest.
