LTTE Proxy Independents Flip in Paris

Jan Jananayagam Flops in London

By Our EU Special Correspondent

Paris 08 June, (Asiantribune.com) French voters elected 78 MEPs for EU Parliament including 14 each from the Green Party and the Socialists, but outright rejected the LTTE backed Tamil candidates who fielded under independent group for Ile de France district that includes Paris. EPP topped the list with 30 seats while the Liberals came fourth with 6 seats after the Greens and the Socialists.

The Tamil origin French voters from Sri Lanka, Mauritius, East Africa and India cast their votes in favour of socialist and left parties. The Tamil group backed by the front organizations of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) was routed in the election.

The Independent group headed by Jean Marie Julia from Pondicherry could not even get the votes of the French citizens of Pondicherry origin because the list included 18 Sri Lankan Tamils backed by the LTTE. "Julia had a chance of getting elected if he had contested from a socialist party," Joe Samuels, a Pondicherry Tamil in Paris said. "But our people rejected his list because it contained names of several LTTE supporters. Our people detest violence and they don’t want anybody who believes in violent politics".

Meanwhile, Janani Jananayagam, know as Janani to the LTTE diaspora in London, had to bite the dust, in spite of heavy backing by the LTTE supporters. She was subsequently backed by one MIA, a rap artist who thought that the younger generation of rap fans would rally round her call and vote for Janani who thought she would make it into the EU Parliament. Even a couple of musical events which were supposedly organized by this rapper failed to draw crowds as anticipated and also votes at the elections.

Jananayagam received 50,014 votes as opposed to the last elected member of the UKEP which was 188,440 votes. This was a dismal performance by the much hyped Jananayagam who hoped to be carried into the EU Parliament by the Tamil Diaspora.

"It is a very poor showing," said Jacob Vasan, a Tamil youth leader from Luton. "Jaani, lost more Tamil votes than she could win over because of a her 'I am the greatest' attitude. She snubbed many Indians and people from friendly countries like Malaysia and Mauritius".

Jan Jananayagam is an independent British candidate in the forthcoming European Parliament elections, which will take place on June 4-7. Jananayagam has been lobbying the British government to help stop the war in Sri Lanka—an issue that M.I.A. has been very vocal about in the past.

Her support for Jananayagam looks set to be immortalized in a song, which will be available to Londoners who vote for the candidate. It’s not yet clear what the song is called or how it will be distributed to voters, but it will inevitably leak online once M.I.A. has made it available.

The losses faced by LTTE supporting politicians such as Jayalalitha, Vaiko, The Independent Candidates who contested for a berth in the European Parliament in Paris, and the latest loser Jani Jananayagam brings out a strong message to the effect that all Tamils are not and never were with the LTTE, the most ruthless terrorist organization in the world.

Tamil Writers Guild is delighted to fully endorse Independent (Tamil) MEP Candidate Ms. Jan Jananayagam - Your Vote Counts!

On behalf of the Tamil Writers Guild, we seek your immediate support to help elect Ms. Jan Jananayagam, who is standing as an Independent candidate in the forthcoming European Parliamentary Election for the London constituency on Thursday 4th June. This message is particularly relevant to those of you who are on the electoral list for the London region and also, for those of you who have family, friends and colleagues who live in that region and are entitled to vote.

Please remember she needs only 150,000 votes to be elected – every vote you can help to deliver is one more towards that winning goal!

Thanks for the post Lalith.

I think now you can expect a looooong comment on this telling you why you should not write about LTTE proxies, but only about topics given and recommended to you (and me) by LTTE proxies themselves.

How do the video on "JANNI’S CAMPAIGN VIDEO OR TERRORIST VIDEO? " be benifitted to Europeans? What is she going to accomplish? Nothing for Europeans, but an attempt to interfere with SL Administration which she cannot do by living overseas. May be she lost her mind as the video is completely irrelevent considering the objective of this election.

OK. I am the first this time to say, what about the 20,000 kills and 300,000 displace innocent Tamils.. I beat everybodies.

4
Hiranya Malwatta

You mean the innocent Tamil LTTE cadres who fought in civilian clothes, who automatically become civilian casualty as soon as they are dead? Or do you mean the 'Makkal Padai' who also have a gun in their hands and point it and shoot?

What about the 300,000? They are finally free of the serial killer.

Are you French?

velauthan,

Pics of some innocent civilians for you. Even most of these people who are now in refugee camps are happy that they are finally free.

Great! He beat '... everybodies (sic) ...'. Now you can write a few more under the many pseudonyms used by you.

Hopefully, it will be equally entertaining.

Even if the BNP and the Christian Party supporters totally voted for Jananayagam, she would not have still got in'

Still, she would be licking her wounds in dream land.

This is the most retarded analysis. She got more than double the votes of all the independent candidates combined. Also, she got more votes than some of the parties.

By the way, one retard recognizes another.

Please don't use this kind of language on NowPublic, it is disrespectful and uncalled for and if I have to address language use again, the next step is a short suspension from the site.

2
lalith

Well, how many votes did you expect Jananayagam (I think the general translation of Jananayagam in English is 'Leader of the People'. I stand to be corrected if I am wrong) at the elections?

50,000 or a bit more? I know that the Tamil Writers Guild in the UK was looking around to get her about 150,000 votes. Still. she would have fallen short.

5
lalith

Looked.

"That was more than established parties such as the English Democrats, the trade union-backed No2EU, the Socialist Labour Party, Libertas and Jury Team, a new umbrella group for Independents, all of which were running national campaigns and had the benefit of party political broadcasts."

None of the above mentioned had Terrorist money to back their campaigns huh?

Tamil Writer's Guild endorses Jan - Tamil writers were looking for 150,000 votes for Jan. I'm sure Jan was too. Fell short only by about 66%.

Sikh Community Endorses Jan

Tamils for Obama (not Obama) Endorses Jan (this is sneaky)

MIA (Missing in Action) the rapper Endorses Jan (utter failure)

LTTE Endorses Jan

Get5now - Fails miserably

Yeah Man, Jan, ALSO RAN!!

jazzyzazzy,

If the comment is for me, I'm sorry. I was only returning a complement.

I agree. God loves triers. But, it will also depend on how one tries.

Please check out Jani's campaign video.

What?  Only 50,013 plus Jan? Shocking!

Hey, what happened to all those supporters we saw at mass rallies?

Well, this, over and above anything else, proves explicitly, the fact that most who attended rallies/protests where some opted to jump off bridges, obstructed traffic, got man-handled by the Police etc etc; had not been there voluntarily. Not even 150,000!!

On second thoughts, could it be that the nasty GoSL intimidated the loyal millions into not voting? Or...could it be that most..I mean most, have no right to vote? Now that's thought evoking, isn't it?

This is a great eye-opener for those who continue to talk of what happened and revel in number-talk in a vengeful bid to slur the image of Sri Lanka - The Tamil Diaspora is not interested in rubbing salt in old wounds and to dwell in the past - they know that nothing is going to put back the clock. That, all minus Jan and 50,013 want peace, harmony and progress, is obvious. That they are no more interested in revenge and misery is clear.

Thanks Jan...you gave the world an opportunity to see the real picture.

You have my vote too... So it is 50,015.

50,013+ Jan + my mental vote in appreciation!!!

Why would some well established political parties like conservatives praise themselves for winning over an independent candidate ?  Dont insult someone just becase they lost in election.

israeli.agent

If you read the comment again, you can see there was no personal attack. It was a comment against the 'cause' she stood for - 'dumeel eelam' and support for terrorism. Her campaign video says it all.

"Still, she would be licking her wounds in dream land. "  Will you use these kind of words at your home ?

3
israeli.agent

Why not? These are perfectly ok, politically correct words - by any standards. What did you find offensive in these words? Sorry, beats me.

.Agent.

3
lalith

What's wrong with the words? Yes, of course I would use it at home if I was faced with a similar situation as Jan who tried to use the name and support of the LTTE to win an election in the UK.

Since you have started dissecting the English language, may I remind you, 'licking one's wounds' is a term of speech. Therefore, I will continue to use it even in the future, when and where appropriate. Pl. check.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/licking+wounds

ALSO,

There are two more mourners that deserve derisive mention here. Vaiko threatened that rivers of blood would flow on the streets of Chennai if LLTE was harmed. The only blood to flow was his own in the electoral battle, and he is licking his wounds now. Then, there is Karunanidi. He is a terrorist sympathiser by association - he called Prabhakaran a close friend in an interview -  who wants to 'add his life to the millions that have perished for Tamil Elam.'  Now that the LTTE are dead, and the elections are over, he should confirm whether he still proposes to die for Elam.

You can use what ever words available in dictionary. But dont claim its not personal attack.
