French EDF set to buy British Energy, nuclear power plants to build, $18bn to pay
EDF the monopolistic state enterprise of France
Buys everwhere in Europe, let's no competiton in
The Brits found no calculation for a self sustaining nuclear power plant park and destruction of the overaged park. They sold to government owned EDF for financing.
$18bn to pay by EDF, 50% overpaid say germans, why?
EDF has to come up with $18bn, where they get the money in the credit crisis should be verified under the new disclosure for Fat cats (short sellers), the Dinos (dinosaurs) like EDF should also be forced to disclose their money sources. Is it the French electricity payer, who finances with paying the electricity bill.
No sound nuclear finance plan UK, why France has no problem ?
If they UK was not able to come up with a sound finance plan for nuclear (including destruction costs of $5bn minimum) why should France have a better offer. They just forget the destruction costs or book a junk number. France just wants to get the market , destruction is work of future generations. With 900 registered nuclear incidents per year the Brits have a radiant futre, what they enjoyed already with the Sheffield nuclear plant.
EDF wants to build 4 EPR nuclear power plants 2017
The EPR , the Airbus category accident safety, not yet to construct by Bouygues construction company, the close friend to the president. The Finland reactor is 2 years in delay. EDF, Areva says Bouygues has no idea, how to build it.

It will also take a 25% stake in all new nuclear plants built by EDF.
The deal with EDF is seen by Centrica as vital to reducing its dependence on imported gas.
The cost to Centrica of this investment will be around £3bn.
EDF's acquisition of British Energy is due to be announced on Wednesday.
The deal will be controversial, BBC business editor Robert Peston says, because it will be seen by some as handing

SOLARLIFE, I like this story. It's good stuff.
I suppose it was only a matter of time until this happened. It makes sense, as I don't think the Brits have built a nuclear power station for about 30-40 years - we'll have forgotten how to do it!
