January 2nd 2009, another protest was held in Stavanger Norway, this time hosted by the muslim society of Stavanger in sympathy of the victims in Gaza.

The Parson of Stavanger Cathedral, Georg Tumyr used strong words in condemning the Israeli attacks on Gaza the past week, saying "In the name of our God, I ask for the attacks to cease", holding hands with an Imam in the appeal to the Norwegian government to cease their support to Israel.

The speakers also thanked Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jonas Gahr Støre [AP, Arbeiderpartiet (Labor Party)] for his effort, and cancelling his christmas vacation in order to hold a conference with the Storting [Parliament]. Their conclusion have then been to send, despite financial crisis 30 million Norwegian Kroner in humanitarian aid to the Gaza strip. Also pleading the Israeli government for a 48 hour ceasefire in order to get the humanitarian aid to the needing. Israel unwillingly accepted the inquiry granting access to humanitarian aid workers to Gaza

Almost 400 people met up to show their support to the Palestinian people.
From the crowd it was also possible to hear praisewords to Hamas for their role in the conflict.
Hamas haven't exactly been a popular word the last few days because of their terror actions in the Middle East. Whether the guilt is on the Israeli or Palestinian side, many experts dare say Hamas is responsible and would like the international society to call upon Hamas to cease their qassam attacks on Southern Israel.
