Future First Lady? Speech Examined, Transcript Available (News/Opinion)

Day 1 of Democratic shmoozefest 08 featured a clear, concise, to the point Michelle Obama who was well prepared for her speech Monday night in front of the Democratic National Convention at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

Likely the next First Lady of the United States south-side Michey, dressed conservatively well delivering the juicy liberal burgers that everyone was expecting.

Michelle Obama promised... to end the war in Iraq responsibly, to build an economy that lifts every family, to make sure health care is available for every American, to make sure every child in this nation has a world class education all the way from preschool to college, plus an apple pie, a loaf a bread and some magic pixie dust.

The theme of “this time” that popped up toward the conclusion of Mrs. Obama’s speech was disheartening to this die-hard Democrat. Instead of bellowing about our shoe in victory, the theme of “this time” reeked of an anonymous meeting, alcoholics (AA), narco’s(NA), gamblers(GA) or knitters(Wool-A) you take your pick. This time we stopped doubting, this time we listened to our hopes instead of our fears.

Trying to upstage Teddy, would have been a disaster, I mean the guy (Senator Edward Kennedy) only held the floor for seven minute but was still able to work delegates into a heated frenzy.

So, Why then did Mr. Kennedy make his appearance on the first night of the convention where nobody including Michelle Obama could possibly upstage him? Ego? Sass? Kennedy carisima?

The answer is elementary, Kennedy’s appearance and subsequent speech were surely an elaborate ruse by the Democrat Party to draw some of the attention away from the day’s keynote speaker Michelle Obama, who by the way delivered the most believable, heartfelt “god bless you and god bless America” that this reporter has ever had the pleasure of witnessing.

mr.zoltanblack, I like this story. Many thanks for the write-up of Michelle Obama's speech. It'd be great if you could mark it as Opinion using the flag at the bottom of the page.

Thanks, Rachel Nixon

I'm glad you enjoyed my write-up but it was not exactly an opinion piece, I guess, perhaps I just have a bad habit of adding my two cents to every news story I cover.

Future First Lady? Speech Examined was straight facts however I do apologize for adding my two cents in regards to Mr. Kennedy's appearance.

Here are some links to previous convention coverage from Now Public members today, by the way:

Speeches by Nancy Pelosi and Edward Kennedy, as mentioned in the comments of this story.

Outside the convention centre there were reports of passersby and journalists being detained behind police barricades amid protests. Thanks to politisite and Flux Rostrum for the reports.

And there were reports of a Possible plot to kill Obama

This definitely needs an OPINION slapped on it.

Democratic smoozefest

It appears as though the OPINION argument is off to a good start.

well delivering the juicy liberal burgers that everyone was expecting

I will leave "well delivering" alone.  Perhaps it is a manner of speech of Canadian Democrats.  However, "juicy liberal burgers" is an opinion at best and a dig at worst.

Michelle Obama promised... to end the war in Iraq responsibly, to build an economy that lifts every family, to make sure health care is available for every American, to make sure every child in this nation has a world class education all the way from preschool to college, plus an apple pie, a loaf a bread and some magic pixie dust.

Unless you are willing to slap an OPINION tag on this puppy, please give us a link to the last promises.

Mrs.

First of all, which shoe is that?  Will your shoe-in victory be accomplished with pumps, loafers, brogans, running shoes or spiked high heels?  Again, we are blessed with your humble opinion of the tone of the speech.

Kennedy’s appearance and subsequent speech were surely an elaborate ruse by the Democrat Party to draw some of the attention away from the day’s keynote speaker

Unless you want to put some facts behind that speculation, an OPINION tag is warranted.

#1 Smoozefest is not an opinion its a fact, have you ever been to a Convention?

#2Delivered Juicy Liberal Burgers, is a hip way of saying she stayed on topic

#3Plus an apple pie, a loaf of bread and some magic pixie dust, sure they were addition I made my self. Not sure you noticed but Michelles real word's appear in this article in italic. In addition I provided a link to the transcript so that an educated reader can check out my embelishments.

#4(Perhaps it is a manner of speech of Canadian Democrats) Yeah sure, we speak Canadian up here. Real hard for a Texan to understand

#5 I have copped, several time to my Kennedy statement being an opinion statment but this is one small piece of the entire work

Ps: I sure do love to be picked on......... Last night the shoe was indeed a pump. I understand I have a bad habit of mix the news with my own opinions but on this occassion the piece was produced as news, not opinion. If it was an opinon piece maybe I could have mention the likleyhood of the Democratic party wasting their lead and falling victim to middle-America, guns and religion. But it's not and I did not.

My previous comments are now moot and unnecessary.  Were I able, I would delete them.

Good stuff.
