G20 protest march in London draws thousands

G20 protests took place in London today as thousands marched for 'jobs, justice and climate' before the G20 summit starts next week. So far the protest is peaceful, but police are on alert and are ready in case things turn violent. Police were drafted in from other cities to help keep a presence at the demonstration.

The rain came down as protesters took to the famous London streets and the police kept a low profile as over a hundred organisations took part. It is estimated that about 35,000 people took part today and congregated in Hyde Park for speeches at the end.

Television presenter Tony Robinson, who compered the Hyde Park gathering, said: "Like 97% of the people here I'm absolutely hacked off with what's happened in my country and internationally."

He said he wanted to see the G20 meeting seriously discuss "proper regulation of capital and a serious investment in a green economy".

Anybody in power? No. They think that if there is a problem, as with our border here in the UW with Mexico, more of the same will ultimately cure us of our problem.

So, let break-neck unneeded internationalization of the word economy continue unabated!

Yes quite rightly put Esta. The problem with power is it has to be used positivly or not at all.The power of the goverments are a good example NOT, Wisdom comes with age not text books. Its the same old same old school tie crap.Keep them dammed underlings called the masses down. Say old chum hand me one of those big Cuban cigars it will go down well with my Brandy oh and by the way dear chum. Why ? are those dammed people marching around town today.
