Others target 50% reduction CO2 2050
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Bush administration, dismissing the recommendations of its top experts, rejected regulating the greenhouse gases blamed for global warming Friday, saying it would cripple the U.S. economy.
At the just concluded G-8 summit at Toyako, Japan, Bush and other world leaders called for a voluntary 50 percent reduction in greenhouse gases worldwide by 2050 but offered no specifics on how to do it.
In a setback for Bush, the Supreme Court ruled last year that the government had the authority under the Clean Air Act to regulate greenhouse gases as a pollutant. Bush has consistently opposed doing that.

SOLARLIFE, I like this story. It's good stuff.
We may have to cripple the world first before the US economy. I wonder what excuse will come once American will start to suffer from the CO2 effect and Climate changes! Well they all ready do but just do not seem to see the relation!

It is amazing that people are ignorant enough to believe in "climate change" caused by man. Marjorie Rawlings bought a 74 acre orange grove at Island Grove FL a few years ago. In the eighties it was global cooling! Every been to Orange Springs? Guess where the name came from! Some remember Cuban royal palms on Bayshore in Tampa! Thank God for global warming so we can grow oranges above Orlando again! Got to go! I am going to hunt some dragons! I hear that they are very tasty. I hope the witches don't get them all!

I'm a cliamte change sceptic - when are we going to get the truth not the media hype!
As science teacher I am agast that we are not still investigating this hypothesis and not blindly accepting it as 'media fact'
at 04:28 on July 12th, 2008
We are not accepting the facts or making facts out of fiction, we are working with the facts and the most likely probabilities when the fact are not there or not conclusive as we have them on hand today, ignoring those or dismissing them would be foolish at best!

Yes but do you always report all the facts - I am very sceptical of the figures given for temperature changes we have only been measuring temperature for about 200 years, figures from before then are all extrapolated, so how can we say with certainty that temperature has risen by parts of a degree; indeed they are now saying we'll see no chnage over next 10 years!!
The world simply works on a different time scale and to say what we have done in a blink of an eye has effected temperature is not 'good' science; dont get me wrong if we are destroying the planet then I agree we need to stop - but I think it is also dangerous to do the wrong thing. What makes me mad is the fact that it is taken as read about us causing climate change when the jury in my book should still be out..

Again the argument of White House was not to refuse climate change as a fact, but costs for the economy to avoid. Well look at Germany the world's 3rd largest exporter (6bn Euros for Renewables export soaring to 60 bn Euros in 5 years) the economy is booming with clean products.
I can in this article not discuss climate change it's about the economy, one going for environment fit production, the other laying back with a lost petrol war with the spectecular result the gallon is now $4 before the war $1, amazing economy. The costs and moral responsabilities for the climate disaster, destroying the Ozone layer and refilling the Ozone layer to avoid UV/cosmic rays burning, was already in the plans of Gorbatchev. He said the Ozone layer becomes more important than war.
May be it would be a necessary step to built a climate change memorial for the first ever 15 OOO dead people during 2003 heatwave in France ( no wind, cities full of stucked CO2 and resulting toxic Ozone smog destroying your lungs when you breath, as well as the roots of our trees) This is reality find out by journalists, government first denied, but then could not burry the people any more. Today exists a heatwave alarm system combined with Ozone smog alarm 180 micro. When we reach that level for 3 days cars have to slow down speed or are excluded of the city like in London. Sorry Europe is far ahead of america concerning environment and climate change / CO2 it would be not responsible to step back on present american "destroy as long as my economy is running".

Thanks Paschen for Flag, act for climate before a collapsing USA will break apart. Americans are not bounded to their land, like Europeans. They just leave the place and will probably migrate to Canada

TO bah(NOT VERRIFIED) / WICSTUN_tomo
you both missed the point, the bush administration is not questioning climate change as fact to act, they not sign any paper because they think it's bad for Texas oil and carbon economy. To BAH if still live in Florida you should know the building construction code changed you need 50 cm more above sea level (rising). I would not buy orange plantations in Florida, guess why Florida Power & Light sold them all. Have fun with your next Hurrican, water temp over 27°C (from 25°C) creates the opportunities.
p.s. I would also prefer if their is still a time to save Florida, water, power climate etc. thanks for your interest in international themes that matter.

There are no orange plantations in Florida. They are orange groves! Florida building codes are the result of government nonsense. As you know, government never does anything well! I still live in Florida in the same home since '57. There were no building inspections when my home was built. Still standing! I live on a little hill 40 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. I decided when I bought that it would be a nice place for a dock and boat rental business. (yes, the dummies were talking about the sea rising in 1957.) It is still 40 miles from the gulf. I have seen all the hurricanes for many years. I wonder why the one in the late twenties was so bad and it was before "global warming"! What the hell was Florida Power & Light doing with orange groves? This orange crop is projected to be the largest in some time. Only devoutly stupid people try to predict the weather long term. Daily weather reports are seldom right.
Comments are usually self destructive. NASA's Hansen says, "2005 was the warmest year since the late 1800s". If that statement indicates global warming caused by industry and automobiles then you are a very poor thinker! It makes him appear ignorant! Trying to tie certain events to "global warming" ignores things that happened in the 1800s and before there was CO2 made by man. CO2 is a very small part of "greenhouse gasses". If you stopped all carbon fuel the effect would be very, very small.
I do understand that people in socialist countries and those were goverment has caused a poverty lifestyle want the US to suffer like they are. There is no use to ask them to use common sense or figure things out. They get the answers they want! Of course, it is true that many in the US expect too much and are pretty much pigs.
Man can do almost nothing to change the climate! CO2 is great! If it weren't for climate change we would be in an ice age! Oranges once grew outside Jacksonville! The first groves were on the St Johns River outside St Augustine. Gauvas, mangos, and avocado pears grew in the yards of Ybor City. The rolling hills of central Florida held acre after acre of beautiful citrus GROVES.
The sea was not covering Florida! Government does nothing well! Government is about jobs for sorry people! If you are dumb enough they will control you completely with a problem that does not exist and a solution that is silly!
Now, back to hunting dragons and watching out for the witches! I am sure there must be dragons in the woods nearby!

Bah I like your engaged language style, why don't you create a NP account and write yourself , I want to encourage you. You seem really take care of your area. Regulary we are eating Florida grapefruits, the best ones. Is this ok to support you? Actually I am living not in a socialist country but Sarkozy land, you know the guy with the singing wife who takes care of business with no income so far. May be you are right with your comment. Well I think you messing now up with the dragons, after all for sure less dangerous than all the alligators; so have a drink for me downtown southbeach Miami. Hello from the world supporting Florida.
