In gaffe, Biden said FDR led when market crashed
WASHINGTON - Vice presidential candidate Joe Biden says today's leaders should take a lesson from the history books and follow fellow Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt's response to a financial crisis.
"When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened,'" Barack Obama's running mate recently told the "CBS Evening News."
Except, Republican Herbert Hoover was in office when the stock market crashed in October 1929.
FDR was elected three years later when voters denied Hoover a second term. The Democratic challenger appealed to the "forgotten man" by promising a "new deal" to solve the Depression era.

Biden said Roosevelt got on television? When exactly did he do that? Was there even television while FDR was alive?

Hoover was president when the market crashed...But thank you about the, "TV" there was radio. I guess McCain is not the only one who makes mistakes. I wonder why there is not 10 NP stories on this.. Hmmm.
One thing that Biden said, I thought was wonderful the other day. The Dems are upset that Biden said, If it were up to him that commercial about McCain not being able to use a computer would never have aired. I am glad he was honest about that. Obama's team is steamed.
