Gallup Poll: Bush Job Approval at 25%, His Lowest Yet

After supporting the Main Street Fleece/Wall Street Bailout bill, Bush drops even lower in the polls; he's just 3 points away from reaching the all time-worst approval rating for a US president, ever.

It's quite possible he'll make "worst ever" before January 20, 2009, when the tyrant-in-chief is expected to be leaving office (and the US, in order to flee to his 100K acre ranch in Paraguay, which has no extradition treaty with the US).

PRINCETON, NJ -- President Bush's job approval rating is at 25% in the latest Oct. 3-5 Gallup Poll, the lowest of the Bush administration, and only three percentage points above the lowest presidential approval rating in Gallup Poll history.

Bush's previous low point was 27%, measured about a week ago. The 25% approval rating is one point higher than Richard Nixon's lowest job approval rating of 24% measured in the summer of 1974, and it is just three points higher than Harry Truman's all-time Gallup low job approval rating of 22% measured in 1952. No other presidents have had job approval ratings of 27% or lower in Gallup Poll history.

Certainly not good but still more than twice as high as congress.

yeah 158, Congress sucks; any Dem or Rep who takes their Oath to defend the Constitution seriously would've been agitating for impeachment along with Kucinich, McKinney, Wexler, etc.

i agree Moonwolf- 25% approving is incredible. Willful ignorance plus Faux News? If he changed his name to "Clinton", his rating would probably drop faster than WTC 7.

Erik Larson, I like this story. It's good stuff.

There should be a law.....if people who hold office fall below 35% a new election is held...

These guys have no right to keep dragging everyone down with them.....It is UnAmerican...is it not?  Even term limits are not enough....we need percentage confidence level Democracy.

approval ratings with teeth; interesting. You could propose an Amendment; if ratified by 3/4 of the States/People it becomes part of the supreme law of the land. Congress has been failing for a century or so to call the Article V Convention for proposing Amendments. FOAVC.org

Switzerland has a republic that incorporates provisions for direct democracy, which helps keep the pols in check- no point in passing a Wall Street Bailout if the People might just overturn it, for instance.

Thanks Eric, I joined FOAVC...and said

I want to make an ammendment that requires a new election when Presidential ratings go below 35%. There is no confidence in a sitting President who hangs on to his job despite poor approval ratings...He should get out of the way, or change, and stop wasting taxpayers time and money. It is quite unAmerican...to have a President do things that the people surely do not support. This would strengthen term limit laws, and give teeth and a bite to those in office whose approval ratings are unsatisfactory....In affect they have no right to remain in the job as an obstacle to American progress....I fully support this idea....which would also be a new alternative to Impeachment.

If you will.......please inform others for support..... This is so very good....Thanks Eric.
