Gareth Williams, MI6 British Spy Found Murdered in London Flat
Gareth Williams as He Was Known Locally, Was Working for MI6 and Has Been Found Stabbed and Stuffed into a Sports Bag in His London Flat
Police were called to Mr. William's apartment in Pimlico after they received reports that he had not been seen for some time. Police made a grim discovery when they found his body stuffed in to a sports bag in the bath of his home where it is thought to have been for about two weeks. He had also been stabbed multiple times.
The Telegraph reports that Mr. Williams was employed as a communications worker for the Government's 'listening post', GCHQ, in Cheltenham. He was in London because he was on secondment at MI6, but it is thought he was supposed to be returning to Cheltenham soon.
In the flat police also found his mobile phone and SIM cards laid out carefully, but at this point they are not releasing any information about why he may have been killed or any potential links between his line of work and his death.
Neighbours in Pimlico also spoke of their shock.
Jason Hollands, 41, a City worker, who also lives nearby, said: "It's truly gruesome - this is a very mixed area of bankers and politicians. I've spoken to the next-door neighbour, who knew nothing."
Due to the sensitive nature of the case police are not releasing any more information at this time.
