Under gay-friendly President Barack Obama, the gay community in the US is optimistic their American dream of justice and liberty for all will finally be fulfilled. According to Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign, the country's first black president has a vision for equality for all Americans.
Solmonese is excited about the change that President Obama has promised. He jokes that the difference in accessibility between the Obama administration and President Bush’s is like the difference between “day and night.”
“I mean there was no access to the White House in the Bush administration,” he said. “There has been virtually an open door with the Obama administration.”

Thank you for this story, Ahmar. I would like to point out however that there is a Growing chorus for change at HRC. It is far from effective in championing gay rights; Mr. Solmonese being part of the problem.
