Under the circumstances, it was a very civilized rally. If I had to guess I would say there were a few hundred participants showing their support for the Palestinians under siege and their distaste for Israel.
Also, I thought there would be more of a police presence in terms of police with riot gear but most of the police attending rode scooters. Soon after that a car jumped the sidewalk hitting a sidewalk vendor but it had nothing to do with the rally.
Thanks for the added information. I'm surprised that more police weren't involved as well actually.

I was in the rally, I thought I got there late (I got the news that it would begin at 12 pm and I got there by 2pm) I was there until the end, 5:30pm. At one point, I looked back to see how crowded we were. I knew I moved somewhere in the middle after late participants. We were walking down by the Grand Central and I could see about 10 blocks behind me easily and couldn't see anything further back. I believed we made the voice of Palestinians heard and I am proud of it. In these sort of days, every muslim should try his/her best to participate and support his/her brothers and sisters in Palestine who have been facing constant genocide, agression while the world is watching. I think it's embarrasing for any muslim when he sits on his chair and not care to give a little support to those who are facing Israeli terror while some Jews and many non-muslims showed humanity by coming to the rally and giving support and I would like to thank them. As Turks say "peace at home, peace in the world!"

Actually, I would say there were at LEAST 15,000 protestors. The people filled five full city blocks. At one point when we were rounding a corner, I could see thousands of people behind me and even more in front of me. It was an incredible turnout. However, due to media bias, it was reported only a "few hundred" showed up on NY Times, Fox, CBS, NBC.

I truly doubt there were 15.000 at the rally. That many people would have required more than the handful of police that were at the rally.
