May 26th. Peoples of East-Kalimantan held election for choosing their new governor for 2008 to 2013..

This election participated by more than 2.200.000 peoples, spreaded in 13 districts.. They choose one of 4 pairs of governor and vice governor whose claims came from different political parties..

The candidates are:

1. Awang Faroek Ishak (Regent of East Kutai district) + Farid Wadjdy (Regional Secretary of Religious Affair of East-Kalimantan)

2. Nusyirwan Ismail (4th Assistant of East-Kalimantan former governor) + Heru Bambang (Professional Staff of East-Kalimantan government)

3. Achmad Amins (Mayor of Samarinda, capitol city) + Hadi Mulyadi (Member of House of Representatives)

4. Jusuf SK (Mayor of Tarakan city) + Luther Kombong (Member of Province Representatives Board in Jakarta)

The election held by punch "Vote Note" that contains pictures and number of the candidates.. And this general election organized by "Komisi Pemilihan Umum Daerah" (Regional Commission of Election)..

In one city, the voter's region divided by particular clustering called "Tempat Pemungutan Suara" (Voting Spot).. In one TPS can be used by approximately 200 registered personals.. This term of registration has been done more than 2 weeks before the election date..

By the remoteness of several districts, the final result of election can be officially announced by KPUD on May 29th..

And due to condition of result presentation, if no candidate reach 30% + 1 vote, there'll the 2nd round of election that will be participated by just 2 major candidates.. This act legitimized by "Act no 12, 2008 about General Election of Governor"..

This election delivered with hope of construction in electricity, social welfare, peace and local order etc..

Another ambiguity has occurred.. Upon the skepticism of new government, that will not bring any progress on East-Kalimantan' development, lot of peoples didn't use their "right of voting".. In approximately, more than 45% of 2,2 million peoples can be called "White Group" or "Golongan Putih (Golput)"..

The as the matter of fact, "Golput" has bigger mass than any other candidate's supporter..
