It has still not been released how Yeardley Love died, but the 'physical trauma' to her body prompted authorities to open a murder investigation. Love was reportedly found in her bed in an apartment that she shared with two other girls off-campus. It is suspected that George Hugely and Yeardley Love had some kind of romantic relationship.

The Washington Post tried to contact Love's family in Cockeysville Maryland, but the person who answered the phone said the family had no comment at this time.

George Huguely's grandfather did speak briefly to the paper however saying:

"He was a wonderful child and he was going to graduate. Hopefully he will be graduating. That's all I can tell you, okay? I'm sorry."

The University of Virginia Lacrosse coach has not commented on the incident yet, and they are declining to comment until the criminal investigation in to George Huguely has been completed.

John Casteen, the UVa President did release a statement saying:

This death moves us to deep anguish for the loss of a student of uncommon talent and promise, and we express the University's and our own sympathy for Yeardley's family, teammates and friends. That she appears now to have been murdered by another student compounds this sense of loss by suggesting that Yeardley died without comfort or consolation from those closest to her. We mourn her death and feel anger on reading that the investigators believe that another student caused it.

He went on to say that Yeardley Love did not deserve to die and that she did deserve a bright future.

On the University of Virginia's Lacrosse Team website, George Huguely is described as being 6ft 2 and weighing 209 pounds. He plays number 11 on the team and has an extensive history playing lacrosse. He is an Anthropology major.

Yeardley Love's profile says that she plays number 1, and she had also been playing lacrosse for many years. Her uncle was an All-American lacrosse student-athlete at Virginia.

He may have been a wonderful child.  But he is now a murderer & his family knew that he had issues with anger.  They should not be making comments to the public just shut up and disappear.  Because this young man, killed a young women & now grandfather is saying he wants him to graduate.  Does he know that he has been withdrawn from the University hmmm.  Denial.  I hope that Charlottesville gives him no plea deal.  This young women has lost her life - Her family will never see her again.  She matters - everyone in society matters  grandfather Hugely.

folks ... let's keep the Love family in our thoughts and prayers, and if we can all take a moment in our busy lives to extend some kindness to another person, let's do it to honor Yeardley Love and all that she could have been. while we're at it, let's give grandpop Huguely a break. no one knows exactly what information had been provided to him regarding this tragedy at the precise time that he gave that quote. let's also restrain from judgemental comments about the accused's parents and what they did, what they didn't do, and what they should have done. Like the Love's, their lives too have been ripped apart and forever altered. finally, let's agree to allow due process to take its course, and when justice prevails, then George W. Huguely V, and he alone, can and will be held accountable for his actions.

Unless Mommy and Daddy's money can, once again we are all sure, buy him out of it.

Both families have experienced a huge loss. Unfortunately domestic violence among young women is more common that we realize, and it needs to be addressed. There is no excuse for what this woung man did to this beautiful girl, but I do feel very sad for both families. What a terrible tragedy.
