George Sodini: Killer Blogged Before LA Fitness Shooting
George Sodini, the killer who shot 15 in the LA Fitness shooting, posted his intention to kill- and to die- on his blog before going to LA Fitness Gym in Pittsburgh, where he opened fire with two handguns and shot 15 people in an aerobics studio.
Five people have been killed in the gym shooting, including George Sodini. Here is a link to the George Sodini online diary, which contains graphic language. He mentions having a baby with a woman named Lee Ann Valdiserri, with whom he did not continue a relationship.
George Sodini's blog describes him as trying to stay focused on his upcoming shooting spree, avoiding "positivity" in those around him.
"Planned to do this in the summer but figure to stick around to see the election outcome. This particular one got so much attention and I was just curious," Sodini wrote in a posting dated Nov. 5, 2008.The blog also lists Sodini's age as 48, as well as his birth and death date, Aug. 4, 2009, the day of the shooting.

Loneliness kills.
For many people, taking the time to understand what makes another person tick is just too time consuming, boring, hard, whatever. As I said after Columbine and Virginia Tech, if we don't reach out to the "loners" in the world, and we've all seen them, this will continue to happen.
Denouncing him as selfish is rather standard for people whose compassion is swept aside for their own selfish simplistic anger.
Isn't it odd we insist on using diplomacy to deal with despots for humanitarian reasons but can't even think of doing that for fellow citizens, people working next to us, dying inside, little by little, alone, unable to help themselves?
My heart breaks for all those killed, and the surviving families and friends. I pray for speedy recuperation for the wounded. I pray for the rest of us to learn the lessons that will compell us to reach out to the lonely ones around us.

Lonely?
You read his blog, and actually took away from it that he was lonely? That he shot up a room full of "young girls" because he was lonely?
You keep on pitying CrazyGeorge, I'll save my compassion for his victims!

His blog appears to have been taken down - can anyone else access it?

I agree completely with the comments regarding this man's unbelievable loneliness. There was no doubt he had mental problems, and what he did was horrific, but he was a tortured soul that led a horrible existence, with no desire to go on. I am from Pittsburgh and this man literally worked in a building right across the street from where I work. How many others are out there that we see every day and never recognize or acknowledge, these so called "normal" people who are dying inside and just can't bear it anymore.

So you worked in Pittsburgh close to him? What sort of social things are around in that area so that he could have joined or he could have even started something up? Surely there must be some sports clubs or perhaps churches (or whatever) in the area?
Speaking from a rural village where loneliness is a matter of course, if you have a completely different wavelength from the residents, who mostly of a similar political persuasion. I have used the internet to meet people, and it is great, full of weird experiences but some good. I think it is myth that all the women on there are horny, those are written by a bloke! Saying that I have heard that it is harder to men to find a woman on the internet as there is so much competition. I have also used Lonely Planet and found a travel companion for a trip to Beirut (off all places). I think loneliness is much easier to deal if you have access to the internet and you live near big city. Rural locations can be pretty dire and there are loads of farmer suicides.

How does good ol' brother Michael feel right now? Or Daddy and Mommy?
To me, this guy sounded sane up until his murder fantasy took hold - seemed like a decent looking guy who was REALLY hard up for some female companionship - why he didn't try Craigslist or one of the dating sites is beyond me - lots of horny chicks looking for a one night stand or a phuck mate...

Maybe he just 'snapped'.
