Georgia vs. South Ossetia: roots of a 100-year conflict
This is actually the situation with several Russian neighbour countries.
Geok Tepe, 1881 ended the resistance at Turkmenistan but there was a rebellion in 1920 and Turkmenia got independence again, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Chechnya is an open wound with continuos rebellion from the 1995. Russia has continuous disagreement with the Baltic countries, mostly with Estonia. Finland has been in war against Russia few times every century. Under Soviet Union rule, millions of Ukraine people died and now days Russia and Ukraine have disagreements all the time...
Georgia and its breakaway republic of South Ossetia have always had an uneasy relationship. The current armed conflict has its roots in a dispute that goes back almost one hundred years. The first major conflict between the sides took place in 1918-1920. It began in a series of uprisings in the Ossetian-inhabited areas of what is now South Ossetia.

Hi Pasi,
I wrote an article on another news community about the history and the fact the Russians were not totally at fault, guess what my account was restrict so I could not comment on my own seeds and article this being that the news group media bosses where out on a mission to say the big bad Russians were totally at fault.
Seeing loads of article telling the truth about Georgia is a smell of fresh air. your artical should be commended highly as this is the aim of good citizen journalism telling and searching for the truth. Nowpublic should be commended for allowing this sort of political non intrusive freedom.
I have obvious published my own article on Georgia here on nowpublic
