Georgian Atrocities in South Ossetia Revealed

American reporter Tom Parfitt travelled to Tskhinvali, the Capital of South Ossetia, and files this report which stands in stark contrast to condemnation of Russia in the western press.

A convoy of three buses and an escort of armed Russian Special Forces soldiers travelled across the border with Russia into South Ossetia yesterday, in a trip organised by the Kremlin for foreign media to witness first hand the destruction in Tskhinvali.

At the village of Dzhava 20 miles beyond the border a huge queue of Russian military hardware stood pointing south, testament to the might of the resurgent Russian state.

Several truck-mounted rocket launchers were a sign of Moscow's intent to hold Tskhinvali at all costs. Approaching Tskhinvali, the group of reporters was transferred to armoured personnel carriers because of the risk of fire from Georgian snipers, said the Russian officers leading the trip.

In villages close to the city there were many burned out houses, and others were still ablaze. In the city itself it was clear that claims the city had been levelled to the ground by artillery were exaggerated. However, it was also evident that while some neighbourhoods were intact, there were patches of terrible destruction.

At a crossroads in the north of the city there was evidence of a fierce fire fight. Three destroyed Georgian tanks were slewed across the road, a mess of ash and twisted metal. The heavy turret of one tank had been tossed across the street, falling through a shop front. Nearby on the ground lay a human foot.

Finally Western journalists can see the destruction with their own eyes and talk to the victims without any intermediaries. Russia Today is reporting that there are not enough coffins to bury people because practically every single family in the Ossetian region has lost a dear one in this war. It is ironic that the Ossetian people are talked about the least (if at all) in the coverage of this war. The disregard for Ossetians is what makes this conflict different from Chechnya, Xinjiang, and Tibet, in all of which the people fighting for the independence were the center of media attention. Instead, it is all about the political ambitions of Georgia, Russia and USA.

It is obvious to any objective person that the huge and vicious Russian response was well planned and well orchestrated.  The Russian response could never have taken place in the time frame involved and in the massing of troops and armor unless it had been planned and put into operation over many weeks or months.  Then the Russians orchestrated incursions and atrocities that brought the Georgians into a battle that was lost before the first shot was fired.

Joellerose,

Since you have all the facts and the timeline backwards, I think it might be better to leave this discussion to the grownups.

I hear the Georgians are crying out for American aid. Is the cease fire still holding, and are the Americans going to send in any troops?

Here is the video of Neocon network being caught off-guard during a live interview with an Ossetian-American girl who happened to be visiting her relatives in Ossetia when the conflict began. She ended up having to hide in the basement of her uncle's house until she could run away to Russia and than back to the US. As she was trying to make her point about Georgia's troops attacking, she was cut off by the news anchor, who said he had to urgently take a commercial break.

you guys want to see looting and atrocities check our Gori and surrounding
Georgian villages, Russian troops are followed by Ossetian criminals and war lords, they are first looting and then burning  the houses of georgians there to make sure that "georgians will not come back " as well as killing and raping whoever is left behind as russian troops stand by and watch. (check out BBC page as well as AP and NY times editorial with Quotes and interviews with russian generals who  confirm). In  civilized world   this is called "Ethnic Cleaning" but in russian its  "the laws of war" that everybody should know. Russians stood by in Tskhinvali long before august 8 and did not protect the georgian citizens of that town, ossecians are not the only nationality living there you know.  Please do your fact check before you post things and what is this "hold Tskhinvali at any cost"? yea must have been very difficult for russian forces storming from the north,  Who bombed Tskhinvali ? we will all find out

Nothing ever changes.  Whenever the Soviet Union and now Russia invade, plunder and murder, the left fall all over themselves spinning, revising history and making excuses.  Thank God the civilized world is well aware of just what happened here, although it doesn't seem we have many realistic choices in reversing this atrocity.  Hopefully Western Europe will get some backbone and extend NATO membership to Georgia and the Ukraine.

Now, this does not mean that Russia's so called leaders are nothing but just another criminal organization like our very own Bush family crime syndicate, it would tend to prove though that some seem to be able to read plain English better than others I guess ;)

Joellerose:

Here's the real scoop and I'll use your words:

Nothing ever changes.  Whenever the USA and Israel invade, plunder and murder, the right fall all over themselves spinning, revising history and making excuses.

How many deaths caused by Russian invasions and occupations over the last 8 years?  How many caused by America's illegal invasions and occupations over the last 8 years?  I don't even have to put the numbers as everyone who just read this knows there's no comparison in the world to the butchery committed by the USA.

So get to your ludicrous right-wing spinning!   The grownups in the world find it very amusing, LOL!
