Given the huge amount of problems the people in the world face with natural disasters occuring, and the high cost to living from fuel prices, we need to focus politically and socially on how to avert disasters and to sustain reliable affordable energy.
Scientists have accused our recent storms such as Katrina as a result of our inept action solving the energy fuel crisis. People say we have a food crisis in the world, but that is not true, because it is really the fuel energy crisis that creates this.
Do you know that by developing more Geothermal Plants we can solve our energy problems and avert natural disasters to include earthquakes? How to do it? What are we up against? First lets look at Geothermal.

The above link is very interesting on Geothermal. It talks of dry steam use. One of the most important aspects to Geothermal use is how it is used. Myself I do not like dry steam because of the silica problem gumming up the pipes as the steam comes through.
The answer is sending closed loop copper pipes that are fed water from the ground level. The water decends and heats up and returns the other side as steam. Think of the letter U;
water goes in the left side at the top of the U and circulates out as steam on the sight side of the U. The trick is being able to make the drilling hole large enough to send a U pipe down to assure the recirculation effort.
This method I describe prevents silica buildup. If pipes buildup mineral deposits, it is easy to demineralize by mixing water with vinegar, to dissolve the material, in a high pressure flushing periodically.
The issue with Geothermal is to not make a radical change to the inner core temperature, or lose gases from inside the earth. Of course some is beneficial in my opinion to avert and diminish earthquake activity. Earthquakes happen because of pressure built-up inside the earth from the heat inside that eventually shifts the earth rock plates underground. If some of that pressure is controlled released no earthquakes occur.
Essentially throughout the world there are massive earthquakes that occur, and thousands are killed. We just experienced one here in Sichuan China yesterday with a report of nearly 8,000 people killed. There are not enough Geothermal Energy sites produced to help control pressure releases to avert the earthquakes.
I am sure you have seen volcano's grow from the ocean. This is because heat & gases have found an escape route and as the heat & gas hits the cool water it then closes the hole and opens again to make lava rock buildup and land is eventually realized with small islands.
The idea is to use Geothermal Energy to not only produce electricity but to also control earthquake activity. In the above site you will notice that India is not even mentioned or on the list of countries using Geothermal Power. Its a pity, and I hope to help people in doing this for India.
Also in the USA most of the Geothermal plants are located in the West, but still they do not have enough Geothermal Power plants built outwest, because they still experience earthquake activity.
They simply are unaware of Geothermal Energy Plants being used to halt earthquake activity. And if they are aware to coverup their inaction; is the fact that politicians who support nuclear energy and oil burning and coal mining companies use the lies that Earthquakes would destroy Geothermal Plants rendering them useless and dangerous to operate....But this is furtherest from the truth.
Geothermal is essential to protect massive land areas where people live in preventing and having their homes destroyed by earthquakes. This is why I think Geothermal energy is the energy of our future, as long as we understand how much pressure to release each year to avert earthquakes, and not over-release to diminish inner core temperatures for heat production for electrical generation.
Australia is now getting on board to Geothermal Building and it is good news for them. They can then have power to run desalinsation plants for fresh water production into man made reservoirs.
Remember the food crisis? I thought of another way to create fresh water, and that is digging a canal or pipeline from the ocean to inland to an open space area that has large ponds. Essentially the ponds will have salt water in them. Over the ponds we construct plastic domes so the temperature rises to evaporate the water. The water collects on the domes and runs down to collection channels into fresh water basins. This is called Solar Desalinisation Ponds for Fresh Water.
Essentially the areas would be produce production areas of food, and the real possibility of raising salt water fish in the ponds. This plan would produce fresh water without using energy resources except the natural sun.
Given the idea for a sustainable future, a county/ country that supported Solar Desalinisation Ponds, and Geothermal Energy used to make electricity and control earthquake activity would be a step in doing something for mankind that is longterm and beneficial to stable life for humanity.
Can we as a people reach these goals? That is the question at the moment!
