The German Coup d’ Etat? Well not quiet, however it seems as if the German people are outraged against their Conservative Government the CDU/CSU ( Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands) is one of the two largest political party in Germany. Whose leader and present Chancellor is none other then Angela Merkel.

 All the commotion has been caused by Merkel and her Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble  who tried to change the German Constitution in order to allow Germany to send it's Armed Forces, the Bundeswehr (German for "Federal Defence Force"; listen (help·info)) in to war zones such as Somalia and into active combat in Afghanistan.

Going to War, this, the German Bundeswehr can not do so since the constitution (Das Grundgesetz für die Bundesrepublik Deutschland (kurz GG), die Verfassung des deutschen Staates) is stating rather clearly that the Armed Forces can only be used for the defence of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as the self defence of any allied state with in the NATO Alliance (North Atlantic Treaty).

 For some reason the CDU/CSU that are governing in coalition with the SPD The Social Democratic Party of Germany (Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands —SPD (disambiguation). SPD) Wanted the German Army to be deployed in Somalia and into active combat in Afghanistan.

This attempt to change Germany’s Constitution from a passifistic Constitution to an aggressive one or at least allowing the Army to be involved in aggressive warfare did not go over to well with the People of Germany nor the Coalition partner the SPD or the opposition Parties, namely the FDP (a centre-right liberal political party in Germany.) or the PDS (The Socialist Unity Party of Germany (German: Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands, SED)) and especially not with the Green Party ( Grune Partei Deutschland Green politics.)

 German’s in general do not like the Idea of Warfare and even less the idea to touch their Constitution, and this especially when it comes to the Army or Bundeswehr. Angelika Merkel and her Interior Minister Wolfgang Schauble tried to force the change with out consulting neither the lower nor the upper house, even less by using a referendum wish would be required for any constitutional change.

 All this caused quiet the out cry in the SPD being their Coalition partner as well as the opposition Parties, FDP, PDS, DKP, and Grune Partei. In addition, especially with the people them self that where not willing to go for that sort of change.

 For now the Constitution is safe, however all seem rather nervous and on the edge since this Coup attempt of the Chancellor and her Interior Minister.

Many put much hope into Angelika Merkel as she was elected, no one expected her to be war hungry nor to ever touch the Constitution in regards to the Non aggression close, however Angelika Merkel would seem to fit more and more into the category of Thatcher also known as the Iron Lady (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Thatcher). And G. W. Bush.
