After late night talks, the coalition government in Germany has announced a reversal of policy and will phase out the country's 17 nuclear power stations in 2022. The agreement shows that eight nuclear plants will first be taken off the power grid right away, followed by another six in 2021 and the final three in 2022. The decision makes Germany the biggest industrial power to announce plans to give up nuclear energy. The decision was as a result of the mass anti-nuclear across Germany in the wake of Japan's nuclear crisis.
