Seemingly pressure in Germany is giving question about the 4000 troops presence in Afghanistan, it does not look good for expectations concerning more troops pledged and deployed by the Germans.

It looks like public opinion would rather have the German Military back to
its defensive roll only.

I personal think the public are right, that this is an american inciated war and they alone should sort out the mess there previous government administration caused.

They wanted to be the worlds policemen, they have shown they were very corrupt policemen. Now they want to clean up their mess its time to get out and let them sort it out. Why should our forces that where duped into being sent to an oil related war?

Of course we can't really pull out though our public at home wish we did, because its all down to treaties of which we have to abide by and those damn promises by our own damn elite. We have to back America if we don't at this moment the world will turn into a finacial turmoil and in both the battle sites civil wars that will just put things back to square one.

But my sypathy is for the civilians in the nations that back America after 9/11.  How many inocent people have to be killed to make the world a so better place to feed that damn American dream?

Germany's top soldier has resigned over allegations of a cover-up related to a deadly Nato air strike in Afghanistan.

Wolfgang Schneiderhan's move followed reports that key information about the 4 September action was withheld, the defense minister said.

The strike, which was ordered by a German commander, targeted two fuel tankers hijacked by Taliban militants.

But dozens of civilians were also killed in the attack, which happened in the northern province of Kunduz.

Defence Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg told parliament that Gen Schneiderhan had failed to provide proper information about the incident and had "released himself from his duties at his own request".

Another senior Defence Ministry official, Peter Wichert, has also resigned.

The announcement came as Germany's parliament debated whether to extend its military mission in Afghanistan, amid growing domestic opposition to involvement in the conflict.

The German Constitutional court has deemed the deployment illegal since the German constitution is a pacifistic one and the army can only b e used for self defence wish is no longer the case in Afghanistan.

On top of that comes this scandal now.

"How many inocent people have to be killed to make the world a so better place to feed that damn American dream?"

All nations "meddle," some more than others. The blame should be placed where it belongs... with the financial elitists and internationalists that pledge allegience to no nation that are causing all the problems with their global takeover scheme.  Do you really belive that the average American consciously supports or is a willing party to this?

I would bet my life that most people in this world would prefer and accept the "American Dream" over that of the terrorist jihadist's dream, if given a choice.

The highlighted portion below is an interesting opinion peace on how it si perceived the German Administration and Bundestag (Parliament) should proceed with a debate for involvement in Germany.

Angela Merkel and her administration have a high popularity rating in Germany, but when it comes to Afghanistan most Germans area against it.  You hear the same echo as you do in North America, we're against the war but support the troops.

The recent ordered Air Attack on oil tankers in Kunduz killed and wounded some 142 Afghans.  The apparent apathy by the Defence Chief  General Wolfgang Schneidehahn and then Defence Minister Jung has caused both of them to resign.

The government ended up with egg on their face when it was provided with false information from the Defence department.

Paschen is correct about Germany's constitution it forbids foreign adventures and required special exemption by the German parliament.  The same was true with Germany's involvement in the former Yugoslavia.

The German conscience is very aware of its past and in no way wants to be accused of being aggressive and imperialistic.

Afghanistan Debate: Parliamentary Hearings Crucial for Germany

Thorsten Benner & Lars Zimmermann: Germany lacks an informed and responsible debate on the country’s engagement in Afghanistan. The looming populism of the 2009 election year is set to make matters even worse. Politicians and the media must prevent this from happening.
