Tamil Eelam is the only solution for the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka and the Tamil Diaspora should be prepared for any sacrifice to achieve it, declared leaders of the Sri Lankan Tamils Protection Movement (SLTPM).

The ‘Eelam Tamil livelihood - World Tamil Convention’ read out by the leaders of SLTPM here on Thursday said that the setback to the movement to achieve self-determination in Sri Lanka was temporary.

It was due to the joint conspiracy hatched by some nations, it alleged.  “To carry forward the Tamils Eelam liberation struggle and to achieve the goal of self-determination, we vow to sacrifices any thing for the cause,” MDMK general secretary Vaiko declared.

The gathering lapped it up.The leaders further urged the human right organisations, democratic powers, and socialist leaders across the globe to support the cause of Tamil Eelam.

For Vaiko, who lost badly in the last Tamil Nadu elections, the only platform left is the one of Eelam. After making very volatile statements about Eelam and Prabhakaran, he expected those very statements to carry him to victory but was proved otherwise.

Rallies and protests are being organized by the Eelam supporting diaspora in a quest for Ealam, and it seems that the USA and the UK are ready to hear them out, with no promise of help.

India which has 60 million Tamils as opposed to Sri Lanka's 2.8 million should be the automatic choice for Eelam, if there ever should be one. This should be Vaiko's goal.

Vaiko, it is time you too launch a fast-unto-death strike and finish it the next day... Now the sun-goat gone, we can supply you Wickramabahu Karunarathne to support your cause. Or even Mangala Samaraweera if you are inclined that way.

They have not learned from their defeat in war.

There will never be a separate Tamil nation in Sri Lanka.

Vaiko is a low level politician only. No one take him serious in India.

Why don't you all sacrifice yourselves and leave us alone. We would be happy to supply the requisite ropes and cyanide.

It is pointless fighting with each other for something which is not going to happen.
