As expected Yousaf Raza Gilani has been elected by the National Assembly as the new prime minister at a time when the country has been fighting war against terrorism. The new prime minister will be administered oath by his arch rival President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday (March 25). During the proceeding of the National Assembly slogans "Go Musharraf Go" were raised from the visiters gallary. Speaker of the Assembly took strong notice of the slogans and ordered the visiters to stop raising slogan.
Both the father and his son Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were present in the visitors gallary. Both are the leader of Pakistan People's Party, but are not members of National Assembly.
The National Assembly Monday elected PPP's Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani as the new prime minister of the country with thumping majority.
Gilani bagged 264 votes. The rival candidate Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, fielded by the Pakistan Muslim League-Q and its allies secured 42 votes.
The speaker divided the house in two parts directing the supporters of Yousuf Raza Gilani towards A Lobby and the supporters of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to B Lobby.
Kashmala Tariq failed to reach the Parliament House in time and was denied entry in the house.
