Girl fights for her life after holiday balcony plunge

A British couple fell 35 feet off a balcony in Grand Canaria. It is thought the fall was an accident.

A TEENAGER who fell 35 feet from a holiday flat balcony with her boyfriend was fighting for her life in a Spanish hospital last night.

Jemma France, 18, and Lee Cook, 28, plunged from the sixth floor of the block in Gran Canaria.

The couple only survived the accident because they fell on to plastic tables.

Jemma was last night seriously ill in the intensive care unit of the island's main hospital.

Window fitter Lee broke his shoulder but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Antonio Campos, manager of the Casablanca Apartments in Puerto Rico, said the couple had been among a group which came back in the early hours yesterday.
