Giuliani Defends Wall Street Welfare While Slamming Tax Cuts For Poor

New York - Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani went on CNN's American Morning on Friday to challenge President Obama's statement that Wall Street executives who awarded themselves $20 billion bonuses as their companies were failing was "shameful."

Giuliani believes cutting corporate bonuses means slashing jobs in the Big Apple.  "If you somehow take that bonus out of the economy, it really will create unemployment," he said.  "It means less spending in restaurants, less spending in department stores, so everything has an impact.

Those bonuses, if they are reversed, are going to cause unemployment in New York," he said.  "I remember when I was mayor, one of the ways in which you determine New York City's budget, tax revenue is Wall Street bonuses."

President Obama admonished corporate America on Thursday after the New York comptroller reported that Wall Street bankers received $18.4 billion in bonuses in 2008.

"This is the height of irresponsibility. It is shameful," the president said. Video Watch Obama blast Wall Street »

These are the same institutions "teetering on collapse" and asking taxpayers to bail them out while taxpayers are dealing with their own tumultuous finances, he said.

I think I support Obama on this one.

I think if a company comes begging for governmental bailouts NO bonuses ought to be one of the prices they pay. I do not believe that will bankrupt New York or any other city in which these executives spend their money.

Well, I would not defend them nor fell sorry, I would throw them to the lions. Sorry, but enough is enough.

Yes, typical Republican, explaining the trickle down effect, to the little people.  Does anyone still fall for it?

You have to stand in awe at the stupidity of Rudy's statements. As if a $100,000,000 bonus is the only way a Wall Street crook will be able to support the NYC economy. A $5,000,0000 yacht and $500,000 Mercedes spread the wealth to very few and these guys have a nasty habit of sticking their money in untaxable offshore accounts. Republicans really are in love with the idea of giving everything to the rich. Unreal.

Wow, Capitalism at its worst and fat cats eat at the restaurants to celebrate their windfalls before stashing them away in off shore Banks that of course are not geared to worthless American securities. Of course these guys had to protect themselves in a rat eat rat world of high fraudulent stocks and share market place. Obama place these terrorist under lock and key freeze their assets and use the money to bail out the banks.

Its not words that are need its actions

Guiliani should be locked up for implicit connection to doing 911, and killing fellow New Yorkers in his quest for money. He and Bloomberg are both involved in the coverup of 911.

I was just going to have a go at this arrogant toss-head when I read his name but then thought to have a read what he is saying and that just made me laugh.
What a load of nonsense.. Cutting bonuses will result in loss in jobs. Because these fat cats cant splash their money? Although the reality is that these same shameless directors laid off thousands and in the same instance split bonuses among themselves.
These bonuses have been always at a cost of the ordinary employees and ridiculous  prices to the ordinary consumers.

These same bonuses paid out to one fat cat can feed so many people, pay for a larger number of workforce who are just struggling to make their ends meet. For every fat cat’s bonus just imagine how many families will be able to pay for their living.. In the end the low wage income public will be spending this money in America. It won’t be stashed away in offshore accounts but used to pay bills and food. They won’t be jetting off to Dubai or on a Caribbean cruise for crying out loud.

I feel like tearing my hair on his logic on this self obsessed moron. Whose only claim to fame is that he was Mayer during the 9/11 tragedy and famously refused to accept donation from Saudis and is Jewish (no offence to Jews).

When he got kicked out of the presidential race from the republicans I remember an interview of an American mother who was a republican supporter who said about Giuliani that the way he works is either it is his way or the highway.. And we don’t agree and associate with that.

It reminds me of a local saying in the subcontinent about old times when a young princess goes to her mom and says why there is noise and shouting outside the castle, mom replied it’s the people they cant afford wheat for food.  Then why don’t they buy rice instead mom? Note rice has been known to be far more expensive than wheat. The joke/ saying stops here and leaves you to wonder that how stupidity never discriminates time, color religion and location.

Mr Giuliani virtually turned around New York using a variety of programs and was re-elected in a democratic city. His claim to fame is much more thoroughly grounded in reality than just happening to be mayor at the time of 9/11.

It is true that not getting bonuses will affect the people who offer goods services that Wall Street elite used to spend their money on.

But, Mr Giuliani, a mayor with a great record and one who supports civil unions for gays, as well as other positions counter to the usual republican logic, doesn't seem to get it.

You get BONUSES because your company made money and your salary as compensation doesn't do you justice.

They are not automatically part of the pay package, and the most disgusting part of this in the recent history of Wall Street is how the bonuses were paid out at the end of 2007 and then, OOPS!- hey, we are about to go bankrupt! Could we get some cash?

We own those entities and we ought to sue the banks and get all the money back.

Guiliani exposed by New York Fire-fighters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaCYEEO-58I....

Guiliani cashing in on 911 horror....

http://my.nowpublic.com/do_not_believe_mr_9_11_tag_given_guiliani...

He is such a brilliant guy why of all things when he knew the WTC was a target due to the 1993 bombing of the WTC....he would spend so much money on his OEM Bldg. 7 Headquarters to be built and located near the WTC? It's as if they knew 911 was planned then....because they could take out the headquarters as well. They planned this thing. They could get Secret Service and FBI records and evidence from them to store there to be destroyed in a fake planned foreign terrorist 911 attack.

Why did Guiliani not give working radios to his fightfighters and police...because if their radios worked, they could pick up his working radio signals which he used to give the go ahead for the implosions to occur. They imploded the South Tower first because that is where all the money was located to getout from the unground tunnel exits. Guiliani wanted to make sure those tunnel exits were not blocked so his henchmen could get the money out. They loaded the money on stretchers and covered them up as if dead bodies being removed from the scene driven out of the tunnels. When the dusted settled so he could see after the S. Tower fell...he gave the go ahead to pull the N. Tower.....so all attention went now to that disaster unfolding...thereby giving them time to get the money out from under the S; Tower...8 hours later he pulled the OEM Bldg. 7 to destroy recorded evidence and coverup his tracks. Bad radios were used so Police and FireFighters were unable to pick up his connection in the crime.

Guiliani also can not be credited for turning around NYC...

For all the people who love him for his leadership throughout 9/11, there are just as many who condemn him for running the city like a police state.  He has been described as a ruthless politician whose reign was marked by a “Dickenson cruelty,” whose tactics for combating crime were “Draconian,” and whose temper was “Vesuvian.”  Guiliani also drew criticism for his handling of several cases of police brutality, including the highly publicized 1997 Abner Louima sodomy trial.

At one point in the trial, Louima testified that one of the police offers who sodomized him said cruelly that it wasn’t “Dinkins Time” (referring to the former mayor), but instead “Guiliani Time.”

A year prior to 9/11, an article in Salon.com claimed Guiliani should not be credited for New York City’s drastic turn-around under his reign.  “Like Richard Nixon, he is one of those odd figures that politics gives rise to from time to time, who preside over tumultuous events but are by themselves too puny to become grand figures in the political imagination.  There’s no vision to Guiliani, no largeness of spirit, and there is cunning, which is not the same thing as bravery.”

To say Guiliani was brave in the face of terror is a complete fabrication. Since he knew beforehand the unfolding events that were to occur....how does that make him brave? He was a tracker, a head watcher to signaling the unfolding of the terror. He is the Terrorist not binLadin. He is in a cabel with elite crooks to include GW Bush, Cheney, Larry Silverstein, Donald Rumsfeld....who knew that the WTC built by the Rockefellers was loaded full of asbestos. It cost to much money to rennovate, so they concocted this terrorist attack.

They want us believe this is some damn rerun of Pearl Harbor...is a utter sham and farce. These people should be arrested, and charged for murder... I say let's get them.

Guiliani and Silverstein planned the OEM Bldg. 7 Collapse:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEuJimaumW4&feature=related......

Rev. Jermano

What really gets my dander and excuse my language.....but these F'er's mention nothing about OEM Bldg.7 collapsing in the 911 Commission Report.   How can it not be mentioned in The 911 Commission Investigative Report? It was the headquarters, it was the OEM, where major US Security Departments had their offices.... These crooks need to be arrested.
