In 1995, as a child, I watched the Disney movie “Pocahontas”. Haven’t watched it ever since, but the word “savages” still echoes in my head. As a child, I was outraged when I heard the English invaders calling the Red Indians of the New World (America) “savages”. The word was repeated in one of the movie’s songs. Savages, savages. And all I could see was that the ‘English’ were the savages and NOT the Red Indians.

And there comes the power of words. England needed to mask its real reason for slaughtering those Red Indians… and found no better claim than to call them ‘savages’. Their REAL goal was to rape the land and steal its riches. How did they prove their claims? By showing that the Red Indians were quite different. They didn’t dress like Europeans, they didn’t worship the God the Europeans worshiped (or were supposed to worship), they had different traditions and they looked different.

Both the ignorant and the coward had to approve of the “savages” theory. The ignorant because of their ignorance, and the cowards because they knew that, if stated otherwise, they’ll be grouped with those ‘savages’. Say Red Indians were REAL savages, as long as they weren’t bothering anybody, why eliminate them? What gives anybody the right to eliminate somebody else? Why interfere? No Red Indian went to Europe and complained.

Europe might look so fancy and GREAT to many of us and that’s because most of us are short-sighted… literally. How great can Europe be when it climbed on the corpses of innocent people? How great can it be when it gained its wealth and victory out of unfair bloodshed (if bloodshed could ever be fair)? I can’t deny that Europe did produce MANY great men and women… but Europe itself is not that great when it comes to history.

Many people think that Red Indians gave up their lands and that’s why they were almost completely eliminated. Actually, no, they did fight for their liberty… and died fighting for it. Maybe they didn’t live to enjoy liberty, but their liberty lived through history. History admits that the real owners of the New World were Red Indians who fought and died for it. History admits that it was the Europeans who were the real savages and not Red Indians… and History shall always and forever admit that Israel is the terrorist and not Hamas… not Palestine.

As for the last century, the word ‘savages’ went through an evolutionary phase and turned into ‘terrorists’. Yes, terrorists. The meaning of this word was biased. Uncle Sam and Israel—along with their PUPPETS of course—biased the meaning of terrorism. ‘Islam’ now is thought to be the core of terrorism. I can’t deny that there is a small number—and I mean a small number—of Muslim terrorists, but have the world forgotten that terrorism existed in every other religion before it even existed in Islam. Have the world forgotten how the Roman Catholic Church used to kidnap scientists, murder them, brand them with the cross and throw their naked bodies? Have the world forgotten how the Catholic Church persecuted Galileo for abandoning the geocentric view of the solar system for the heliocentric view? Apologies to all the great Catholic Christians but I’m speaking historical facts here and not faith issues.

ABOVE ALL, can’t the world see how Israel has gone mad lately and is butchering babies? Not that Israel was ever sane or merciful, but now no one can ever deny the truth—or even try to. Even the UN can no longer back up any Israeli claim.

Believe me, whether Hamas fought Israel or not, Israel will still want to eliminate Palestinians—whether Muslims or Christians. If Palestinians didn’t strike back—although not equally as powerful—there would be no one calling, “Give me liberty, or give me death.” Live a free man/woman… or don’t live at all. Yusuf Al-Azmah WALKED to death, because he wanted to remain alive. Alive through being a free man who died fighting for his dignity.

Ezzedeen Al-Qassam physically died… but isn’t he still alive through all those Palestinians who are fighting for liberty? Those who were destined to die in Gaza were simply destined to die and no one can ever change destiny… but wasn’t it enough for them to die with their flags raised high in the skies of this world? Believe me, it was more than enough. An honorable death is definitely better than a thousand fancy lives. I would say that the shoe of Gaza is more precious than the head of Dubai. Don’t let the artificial so-called beauty of Dubai hypnotize you… after all, it’s ARTIFICIAL. Pinocchio was never meant to become a real boy.

Back to the term “terrorists”. Instead of pointing back at Uncle Sam and Israel and saying, “YOU are the terrorists.” We said, “Please teach us how to please you and prove we’re no terrorists.”

And dear Uncle Sam and his puppets—whether governments or ignorant portions of the public—did their best to teach us how NOT to be terrorists. Uncle Sam transported to us and planted inside many of our young minds the American Dream… which is nothing but a mirage even to Native Americans—if they could be called natives. Many Arab and Muslim pets are busy working for this American Dream and believing that the USA is the bay of lost dreams. Obviously, it’s the bay where one loses one’s dreams.

However, that wasn’t enough for Uncle Sam. Thus, some pets went ahead and dedicated so much money for the Arab Star Academy, which mimicked the Western Star Academy and Big Brother, when many Arabs and many Muslims could hardly make a living. Through this Arab Star Academy—which spoke English and French most of the time but, thank goodness, still sang in Arabic—we proved we were good students who were trying their best to get an A+ in being ‘sophisticated’ and ‘liberated’.

One of my Palestinian friends at high school could write detailed biographies about those useless kids who participated (or whatever you could call it) in Star Academy, but when Abdel Aziz Al-Rantissi was assassinated, she was like, “Who is he?” Oh yeah, our heroes are not worth being known or remembered. Our heroes should never be even mentioned. They should get assassinated and die even inside us. Why? So the world would only see two portions of us: the ignorant and the traitors. The world wouldn’t like to see an Arab hero but an oil-keeper who jumped to the surface of Earth only 100 years ago and has so much oil inside his pocket to spill on hookers.

A poor, weak Arab country wanted to send troops to save Gaza but was stopped by a powerful, rich Arab country which stated that they won’t even support them with a bottle of water. Those are Uncle Sam’s good kids.

Ever wondered why Syria had such a horrible image in the eyes of many other countries? Because bad, bad Syria refused to shake hands with Israel. Because bad, bad Syria refused to surrender and bow to Israel and the United States. Because bad, bad Syria still knows how to differentiate between ‘patriotism’ and ‘racism’. Because bad, bad Syria refused to share a toast with Uncle Sam. (And for a list of other bad, bad reasons)

They say Syria is not a democratic country because the people of Syria don’t get to elect their president. Well, at least, we KNOW we’re not electing our president. In most (if not all) so-called democratic countries, they make the public IMAGINE that they’re electing their leaders. Tell me, what made a man like Gordon Brown reign as the Prime Minister of the UK? What made George Shoe Bush reign as the President of the United States for a second round? If you state that the people of America actually elected Bush to be their president for a second round, then you must be stating that the vast majority of the American people are one (or more) of these: idiots, morons, ignorant, brutal, criminals, or absent-minded in a way.

Thank God, many Arabs and Muslims were awakened by the massacre of Gaza… and many others were proved dead. Those who didn’t wake up at the sound of wailing ladies, weeping babies and screaming men were never destined to ever wake up. They were destined to remain dead forever.

Not only those dead Arabs are dead—leaving us in peace, but also don’t want Gaza to strike back and fight for its liberty! They claim it contradicts ‘peacemaking’. And what Israel is doing does not contradict peacemaking? Pardon me, but I say violence only results in more violence. If Israel slaps us on the right cheek, we must never turn the other… we must strike back… whether the world liked it or not. “An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.”

I would like to quote Dr. Bashar Al-Assad and say that there is a difference between “assalam” (peace) and “alistislam” (surrender). Peace doesn’t mean that we should give up our dignity, our lands and our freedom. Peace doesn’t mean that we should sit and watch Israel butcher us without the least bit of mercy.

Ah, and when was Israel even associated with peace or mercy? Why do you think the bloody Balfour Declaration of 1917 stated that a national home for the Jewish people should be established in Palestine? Why not in Northern Ireland or Scotland for example? Couldn’t Britain—if loved the Jewish people so dearly—give them a part of its lands? Simply, because, after WWII, they no longer wanted wars in Europe. So they simply shifted violence to the Middle East. Smart move!

Just in order to clarify things, I would like to note that we don’t hate Jews for being Jewish. We hate Zionist Jews and non-Jewish Zionists who are butchering our people. We used to live with Jews in harmony and on the same land and we don’t mind, again, living in peace and harmony with Jews. Sheikh Ahmed Yasin, a great Hamas leader, stated the same when he said that we didn’t fight Jews because we hated them, we fight those Jews who took our lands and homes and raped our Palestine, and all that we want is our rights.

Said Siam, the great leader who died fighting for the liberty of Palestine, we all salute you and your brave soul. We will always and forever FIGHT for our liberty and dignity.

ACTION speaks louder than words… so give me liberty, or give me death.

P.S. When I say ‘Arabs’, I mean Muslim and non-Muslim Arabs. And when I say ‘Muslims’, I mean Arab and non-Arab Muslims.

Israel was created at the same time as Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and other small countries in the breakup of the Ottoman Empire after World War One. Saudi Arabia came later.

Israel has as much right to exist as any of those countries.

The Arabs got their nations, but have continuously denied the small area of the huge empire to the people of the Book, with increasing vitriol and violence, based on their Book.

You will note that there was no such country as Palestine created, the term was used for the British mandate.

Good question. What If someone counter this like this?

" Ah, and when was Arabs even associated with peace of mercy? Why do you think the Arab countries helping Palestine people  just by buying a gun and then turn in towards Israel. Could't Saudi Arabia or the likes - if love the Palestine people so dearly - give them a part of its vast deserts? Simple, because the don't even want the thought of democracy get into their people's mind. It would be difficult for the "Royal Families" to maintain their grip on the wealth. So they simply created Palestine Issue."

Its seems like they are trying to control every forum, so they can keep up the slaughter.

Apparently taking down airplanes to make info curtains includes it.

But as moonwolf says, there are others who will listen.

This is a good analogy and yet Europe has changed since the second World War and is open even remorseful today.

America does still need to change though and so does Israel. It was Europe that abolished slavery first realizing how wrong it was. It was Europe that supported the Idea of a Free Palestine first and it was Europe that condemned Israel's actions. It was Europe that created the Mediterranean Union to include North Africa and the Middle East since Europe learned and believes that the only way to peace is Justice, Interdependence and equality.

Gandhi is a model to follow and achieves much more with greater power then violence will ever be able to do.

Thank you Anan

I cannot believe that there are still arab and muslim people who think that we palastenian have sold our lands to jewish. I was even more surprised when I heard a school teacher on TV complaining that students think that palestine was originally to jewish and we palestinian trying to take it out of them. This has enforced the teacher to provide compulsory extra lessons about the history of palestine to his students.

Thank you for clarifying many golden points.
regards,
Sara

hey anan,

your article is gripping and brutally honest, two fundamental aspects of good writing- especially in terms of journalism. I admire your passion, if only other muslims could share your zeal for palestine and all other people who are opressed and repressed. We need more people like you who express their opinions with such eloquence. Im impressed especially with your use of analogies that help put your points in perspective. i hope to read many more articles of yours, they are very informative and profound. hopefully the genocide in palestine will end soon. InshaAllah.

Great article. Facts.

The Barbaric behavior and Culture of the Jewish state must be disclosed to the general public.

Americans and Canadians praying forgiveness for the Red Indian today and surely will not accept for the Palestinians to end up Like the Red Indians. With the powerful Israeli propaganda in north America and Europe citizens tend to believe that the Palestinians are the occupier not the occupied, thereby allowing their Government huge donations and financing of the Israeli killing machine.

No Matter what,Palestinians will liberate their homeland.
