Parts of Glasgow Airport Were Evacuated Wednesday Night After a Suspicious Package Was Found

The package was found at just before 8pm GMT and the BBC reports that staff determined the package to be of a suspicious nature. The package is a bag and it was found in the search area of the airport.

Any passenger who had passed through security already was allowed to travel and the airport is still accepting flights as normal.

A spokesman for Glasgow Airport said: "A suspect package was found in the search area. Because it is in the search area we can no longer process passengers for their departures.

"We are still accepting flights as normal. We are not closed but we have cordoned off that area until the police say it is safe."

The search area and the road in front of the terminal has been evacuated but the terminal is still accessible.

The last two flights, Easyjet's 2055 to Gatwick and British Midland's 2125 flight to Heathrow, were both delayed.

This comes the week after suspicious packages were found in the United States after originating in Yemen.
