In an interview with "20/20's" John Stossel, Fox News' Glenn Beck talked about his alcoholism and conversion to Mormonism in order to have sex with his present wife, who is Mormon.
Not mentioned on the "20/20" report, or by Glenn Beck, is that the cultish Mormon Church falsely teaches:
Jesus and Satan are spiritual brothers.
Jesus wasn't God but became God via good works and we can all become "gods" via good works as well.
The bible is "corrupted" in many parts, but the Book 0f Mormon somehow "corrects" the errors.
Blacks were punished with their color because, as angels, they were nuetral in a fight between Satan and Jesus.
Women must whisper a secret word to their husbands in order to enter heaven.
Mormon founder/convicted fraudster Joseph Smith will sit along Elohim (God) and Jesus to judge all of us.
Elohim (God) had actual physical sexual intercourse with Mary to impregnate her with Jesus.
All of this clearly contradicts the teachings of the bible. Ironically, Glenn Beck is very popular in the bible belt.

You are so wrong! These are flat out lies. I'm Mormon and haven't heard of half of these even from other false rumors. Get your facts straight. We had a good laugh anyway.

Un-maskings are usually intended to change our minds about what has been unmasked.
Glenn Beck, middle-brow but disciplined (well read) intellect, very good heart, with very good, even superior intuitive sense of where the country has been and where it is going, is a good human being.
I know many people who "converted" to marry someone. We could always doubt the sincerity of the conversion, and there are some very unusual aspects to the Mormon Church, but it is, I have to say, a "sex-positive" church.
In fact, it was the use of porno by Mormons that stopped one federal prosecution of a man renting porno movies.
The defense attorney demonstrated that in Mormon cities the renting of X-rated films was high, showing, in effect, local standards approved of the porno.
Many esoteric Christian teachings talk about the spiritual brotherhood of Satan and Jesus, mostly in apocryphal books.
The idea is that souls succumb to an intoxication of their own power and the overcoming of this intoxication and corruption takes the soul from "Satan" to "Christ".

I recently read part of Glenn Beck's book An Inconvenient Truth, but stopped when he made the patently false claim that the US has no military forces in Germany or Japan. Even my 11-year-old niece knows that's simply not true.
It is disturbing that Beck or anyone would believe in a religion, or in this case a cult, simply because one gets an erection at the sight of a member of said cult. I don't see much logical reasoning in that decision-making process, particularly if one's immortal soul is at stake.
Hitler banned x-rated films, burned offensive books and tried to rid Germany of "indecency" as well. I dare say we would want him in office in Utah.
The bible never even infers that Satan and Jesus are spiritual brothers. Satan was an angel named Lucifer and Christ is God incarnate, according to the bible. I would hope that well-read Beck might try reading the bible.
My mind has not been changed about Glenn Beck. How sad he finds only two paths in life, extreme alcoholism or a religious cult.

I said apocryphal books, books excluded when the canon of the Bible was formed. Satan is considered a kind of brother to Adam, and Christ is considered a Second Adam.
Hitler was bi-sexual and worked as a male prostitute in Vienna. He was a pagan, not a Christian, and his own habits were horrible.
The Mormons are basically good people.
I would like to see that quote of Beck's in context.

One of my best childhood friends was a Mormon, so it's not matter of them being good people. It's a matter of the teachings being cult-like and at times racist, as when blacks were supposedly cursed with their color by Elohim (God) per Mormon theology.
Actually, Hitler was a neat freak and a non-smoker who was kind to dogs, habit wise. Speaking of Hitler, Glenn Beck has used old films of Nazis marching on his Fox News show to imply that Obama is perpetuating this type of government. That's really irresponsibile.
I also find it offensive when Beck exploits 9/11 with his "9/12 Project." How much money has been from this tragedy? Beck also tries to escape responsibility by claiming he is not a journalist. Well, that's 100% true (even though he's on a news channel), but that doesn't give him a license to lie.
Beck's point in his book was the US can win other countries to democracy without having a military presence, but he ignored the military presence of US bases. And denied we had military presence in Japan or Germany.
I nearly always disagree with you Roy, but enjoy chatting with you and appreciate your many recommendations on my posts.

There is a difference between military occupation and military presence. The occupation of Japan, Germany, Italy and South Korea ended many years ago but the troops remain. Iraq is still an occupied country even though the troops are pulling out of the cities.
Also, if you actually watcht the episode when he put up the Goose Stepping Nazi's he was making the point that people who say Obama is Hitler are over the top. He specially said he did not think Obama was not Hitler. Same think when he asked some famous preacher if Obama was the anti-christ.
