Glenn Beck said he thinks ten percent of all Muslims are terrorists.As ThinkProgress pointed out, Beck’s estimate would mean that roughly 157 million Muslims in the world are terrorists.
Speaking on his radio show Monday, Beck decried the relative lack of coverage that the news media is giving to the figures he discusses day after day on his radio and television shows.
“We have revolutionaries here in America speaking — American citizens speaking — about an open violent revolution and no one will cover it!” Beck said. “Would they cover it if you had tape of al Qaeda saying they’re going to get out in the streets, they want violence? Of course you would!”
Beck surmised that the media don’t think that the threats he describes are sufficient enough to cover seriously. However, he said, they should look at the havoc a relatively small number of “Islamic terrorists” had caused.

Glen Beck may be correct about the estimate. Between 1 and 10% of the global population is a large number.
Since the daily news is not filled with Christian terrorists on the rampage it seems fair to be concerned about an alarming number of Muslims becoming radicalized.
Yet, I know that some of my Muslim friends at NowPublic will respond by saying that all of those American troops, mostly Christians, are indeed terrorists rampaging in their lands. They will argue that American imperialism is what set off the problem to begin with.
I will argue that without American interest in Middle East resources the subject nations would be worse off economically. For some reason, the part of the Earth that gave birth to humanity and to science and engineering became stuck.
Why is that? It has much to do with the cultural constraints imposed by religion and governments that fail to embrace democracy, individual rights and liberties. So, given our faults, I am proud of our progress.
