Barnes & Noble has posted the cover of Glenn Beck's forthcoming book, "Arguing With Idiots: How to Stop Small Minds and Big Government," which appears to show Beck dressed in a Nazi or East German military uniform.

My first thought was that the Glenn Beck cover was a hoax, but it appears to be real. The cover appears on the Barnes & Noble website.

What we can take from that is a couple of things, one - that Beck hasn't been semi-retired until the whole Obama thing blows over and two, Barnes are cashing in their chips by publishing his book.
Yet - can we blame them? they are getting as much free publicity out of him being on Fox as they can and making a mint. That's capitalism for ya.

Glenn Beck is an idiot. And he spreads misinformation.
He's Rupert Murdoch's own personal "boy". I am sure they have great fun talking about how they can blame more things on President Obama.

Probably brought on by the Hollywood frenzy over Inglorious Basterds!

Glenn Beck is a dangerous idiot who doesn't seem to have even a basic grasp of politics or history. The problem is that he is spreading his misinformation among hundreds of thousands of impressionable Americans. He and the other fools on Fox are stirring up public tension with lies and misinformation to suit the TV channel's political stance. They should shut up.

All this hate pointed at poor Glenn. Sad actually. I guess liberals only support free speech when Cindy Sheehan is trying to lose a war or Jane Fonda is sitting on an enemy gun, eh?
at 03:56 on August 25th, 2009
Most liberals will always support free speech - however when Bush was in power "poor Glenn" and the others tried their best to belittle, mock and alienate anyone who spoke out against him or any policies they did not agree with. When that happened Glenn and his buddies condemned these people as terrorists for speaking out against their President and traitors to America.
Now the boot is on the other foot Glenn and Co. are contradicting everything they said during Bush's time in power. Now it's ok to question the President, now it's ok to incite protests? Why? Because things aren't going their way. Real grown up.

Show me one clip of Glenn Beck calling Democrats speaking out against Bushes Policies as terrorists. You can't find one. Beck often spoke out against Bushes spending policies. How about a source?

Interesting. The left was all behind Sheehan until she decided to protest in Martha Vinyard this week. One MSM news commentator, Charilie Gibson said, "enough already". Why is it interesting? Because Charlie praised Sheehan all through the Bush Administration.
at 17:51 on September 6th, 2009
There's no evidence that the left is no longer behind Sheehan, unless you're actually suggesting that Charles Gibson speaks for every Democrat, Progressive and Liberal.
What is interesting is how Sheehan was demonized by the right for years as "unpatriotic" for protesting President Bush, now those same right wingers are protesting Obama, comparing Obama to Hitler and taking guns to Obama rallies.
Had Cindy Sheehan ever packed a gun near Bush, she would be in Gitmo.

Why exactly is that sara star? What has he said that wasn't informative to you? I wont be so bold as to call you a liar, but I do believe that you should be afforded the opportunity to prove me wrong!!!

I agree. Liberals are acting like spoiled brats. Just shut and agree with me, right?
Have a nice day comrade!

Glenn Beck is not wearing a 'Nazi' uniform. The title is misleading and incorrect. Anyone can do a quick search and see that Beck is wearing an eastern bloc uniform probably from east Germany. Most folks get their Glenn Beck info from Media Matters which has a way of editing tape. Those who complain about Fox News being the voice of Murdoch or the GOP need to see MSNBC who try to inject race into many stories where it has no place. Just last week MSNBC edited video tape and talked about white racists toting guns.. when the man they edited out was Black. These things happen on both sides.. If you don't think so, you know very little about politics.

Excuse me, apparently you didn't actually read the article I posted. I'll reprint it for you:
Beck dressed in a Nazi or East German military uniform.
If it is an East German Bloc uniform, that's equally offensive.
This story has nothing to do with MediaMatters.org, strawman argument.
This story has nothing to do with Fox news or MSNBC, another strawman argument.
It's amazing how those the right such as Beck, gleefully play with mazi imgaery (and/or eastern bloc imagery) without the faintest idea of what it actually represents.

I'm troubled by this idiot Glen Beck and his comments and actions to promote hatred and fascism. That being said, there is a difference between the Nazis and the East Germans, and the difference is the Holocaust. Lots of governments, including our own (but far moreso in our client states), repress people to whatever extent is needed to ensure the "security" of the state. This was not invented nor perfected by the East Germans. Very few governments, thankfully, have engaged in deliberate premeditated mass murder for the purpose of ethnically cleansing a population. Nazis have. So yeah, that's a difference.

It represents the direction he feels America is flirting with, and I think it is a very good picture worth a thousand words!
FYI, Beck is the man behind the 9.12 Project, this is what it is all about...
Is that a crazy right wing loon? Doesn't sound like that to me.
at 11:23 on September 4th, 2009
lounsbury, exactly how is this country moving towards Nazi Germany right now under Obama, PLEASE GIVE US SPECIFICS.
I do recall Bush lying about WMDS to invade Iraq, just as Hitler did to invade Poland. I do recall Bush passing the Patriot Act for more executive power, just as Hitler passed the enabling Act, I do recall Bush opening a camp in Gitmo where he denied trials and tortured people as Hitler did (and worse) in Poland.
Beck's 9/12 project is yet another example of the right wing exploiting a national tragedy for financial profit. We all recall Bush and Guliani photops, Guliani even put 9/11 on his marketing materials for his private company.
FDR never made a cent off of Pearl harbor. FDR never instituted a 12/8 project to make money like Glenn Beck is doing.

Its not a nazi uniform, it is East German. which brings to mind Comunism... and its German so it brings National Socialism also. killing two birds with one image.
at 13:23 on November 19th, 2009
And the "R" in "Arguing" is backwards, suggesting Russian script. So he's posing in an East German uniform that nobody can recognize apart from military history buffs, because he wants to appear as a Red Army officer of the Soviet Union because... his writings are communist. Okay, I guess they're not. Maybe he's making fun of the way his enemies portray him? Again, nope. Nobody says he's a commie.Fail.
at 19:50 on September 10th, 2009
i looked at it closer... it is a west German uniform with soviet collar boards, German shoulder boards, and a east German hat with a civilian tie.

Glen Beck is the new president of the new American Confederacy. Their goals are simple. Eliminate the Federal (Northern) Government, repeal Amendments 13, 14, and 15, abolish all reproductive rights for women, eliminate all entitlement programs including Social Security and Medicare, outlaw all labor unions, abolish the public education system, and rule from a puritanical Christian state with monarchial power. In the name of freedom of course.
at 19:15 on September 26th, 2009
I love this quote: "The problem is that he (Beck) is spreading misinformation among hundreds of thousands of impressionable Americans". Are you an impressionable American? If so, you need to get with the pogramme. Come, be with those sweet little school children being "educated" with the tax dollars of the productive, and join the cult of Obama.
at 19:45 on September 27th, 2009
How very odd to see the word "programme" in the middle of this statement. I won't call it wrong, but it is odd.
at 13:17 on October 18th, 2009
Interesting, weren't you educated with those productive America's tax dollars? That's a very convenient thing to say isn't it? So people are suppose to stay stupid. Because if they sit on their ass and learn something about the world around they're lazy parasites feeding of the stupid slaves. Productivity requires a sound mind. A sound mind that becomes educated creates opportunities for themselves and others in the market place. Ignorance does not. They become a disposable resource that blames liberals for their suffering. You fear education because it opens the mind and heart to reality. Not truth, because we know you clowns manipulate truth very well. I know it's the liberal schools fault. We never really deal with the real problems in this country. We just make excuses while we tell everyone else to buck up and suck it up and take personal responsibility for their actions and lives. Speaking of cults, one could rationalize this new flag waving, flags pins made in China on our lapels, tears for the fallen for oil, apple pie mumbo jumbo as one itself. Symbols are for the simple minded. This world runs on clever sharp intellects and hard working progressive thinking individuals. Not stale mindless drones telling everyone else they are the problem. Good luck with that.

I think the better reference for Beck's appearance is Benito Mussolini. The puffed-up stance with pouty lower lip was emblematic of Mussolini in many photos in the 1930's.A quick Google search for Mussolini's image will turn up many examples. The questions on my mind are:1. What was he Thinking!?2. Why is no one else talking about this??

I find it funny how no one seems to know its a WEST German jacket, everyone wants to try and say its a "nazi" or East German one to add some kind of hidden meaning to the picture, but if you know anything about them, you can just look and see its a West German piece, the collar tabs are cloth, not metal (East German uniforms almost always have metal collar tabs, unless EM or summer) the shoulder boards are sewn on the jacket near the seam and are long, plus if you look hard you can see the slit near the button for it to go through (East German shoulder boards are short and are tied on by a hole that the button's bottom goes through, the button can not go through the hole completely as it is to small), A German WW2 uniform or "Nazi" (because all Heer soldiers back then were card carrying ones) were usually field gray (though there were a lot of colors) and just did not look like this one. This is a current day German uniform, just go look it up, you'll see it. But i suppose to most people, any military jacket with four pockets and epaulets looks "Nazi" like.
at 18:12 on October 22nd, 2009
I find it funny how you have no back up for anything you claim. You look it up. It's your claim, you prove it. Don't put the burden on the rest of us to back up your claim.
at 18:09 on November 1st, 2009
um that is a uniform of the SOVIET RED ARMY NOT the nazi uniform, does no
