STATE DEPARTMENT AND CNN CAUGHT FAKING SYRIA CARNAGE STORIES
Satellite photos posted on Facebook by U.S. Ambassador Robert Ford, which he claims show destruction in the city of Homs caused by the Assad regime, have been exposed as fraudulent, according to a report in the Beirut-based English-language {Al-Akhbar}.
"A terrible and tragic development in Syria is the use of heavy weaponry by the Assad regime against residential neighborhoods," Ford wrote, charging that the "satellite photos have captured both the carnage and those causing it -- the artillery is clearly there, it is clearly bombing entire neighborhoods... We are intent on exposing the regime's brutal tactics for the world to see."
But a careful examination of the satellite imagery by bloggers, shows that Ford's satellite images were of guns being used {within} military barracks or training areas, not being deployed against civilians.
Morever, Ford claims that there is "no evidence" that opposition forces have access to heavy artillery, or that the opposition has used heavy artillery against civilian homes and apartment buildings. But, asks {Al-Akhbar}, "Then why is there satellite photo evidence of destruction in pro-regime Alawi areas?"
CNN's Jonathan King, on Feb. 9, broadcast images of Homs showing destruction of property consistent with the use of heavy weapons, showing "before" and "after" images.
But, says {Al-Akhbar}, the problem is that most of the fighting reported in the international media took place in the Baba Amr neighborhood of Homs, an anti-regime stronghold.
However, the satellite images shown by CNN are in the al-Zahra neighborhood -- a pro-regime area consisting mainly of Alawis, who belong to the same Muslim minority sect as Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
"That is a stunning revelation," declares {Al-Akhbar}. "Pro-regime civilians in Homs and other Syrian areas have complained of attacks, kidnappings and killings by armed opposition groups for months now, with little attention received by foreign media."
Furthermore, these images totally undermine Ford's contention that, "There is no evidence that the opposition... has access to or has employed such heavy weapons."
The images used by CNN, and the false interpretation placed on them by the television network, can be seen on

I don't know about this one Marty. The media you use as support, at best, is questionable. I have seen videos of the carnage and fighting coming out of Syria. It is so intense that a major cleric even suggested sending the wounded to Israel for treatment and help. Now that's desperation even if it makes sense.

The point is, do the victims see the people who pointed the weapons in their direction? Yes, it's obvious people are dying in Syria, but whose guns are firing?
