Are liberals throwing in the towel or they just don't think they are going anywhere in the upcoming anticipated federal election in Canada?

National post writes the following but what I deduce from the whole thing is that the liberal staffers know they ain't going anywhere while Dion is the leader so might as well play golf instead of getting ready for the elections.whats the use of getting ready anyway liberals are not winning this one anyway. They might as well wait the next 4 years while Justin Treadue is a little more mature and run under the Father's name.Nepotism works after all.

Jean Chrétien played golf, after all, and even yanked out those famous golf balls at the Gomery inquiry. Paul Martin has his own golf course, constructed at his “farm” in Quebec. Bill Clinton played golf, earning a reputation for cutting corners (i.e. cheating) that seems fitting. George Bush, on the other hand, gave up golf because he didn’t think it would be appropriate for families of American troops to see pictures of him cruising around the course while their sons and daughters were risking their lives.
So golf must be bad. Why else would the harp[erites send out an e-mail Thursday reading thus:

While Stephane Dion is in Quebec his staff hit the Links
Stephane Dion has been threatening an election since becoming the Liberal leader. In fact, he threatened to defeat the Government – again – this summer while campaigning.  After 20 months of threats, the Liberals have NO EXCUSE not to be 100% ready.  Given that their staff were golfing yesterday, they should be 110% ready.

Attached were several pictures of people, apparently Dion staffers, lounging around in golf gear as they headed to the course.
Horrors.

just a comment on the story

Wow. There's an intuitive leap. Bush hangs up his clubs because he doesn't think the optics are good while American soldiers are fighting and dying in Iraq and this makes the game of golf a bad thing? I had no idea that Bush was such a trend-setter; seems rather incongruous doesn't it? I have no love for ol' GW there; he's screwed up his fair share of things; but I don't believe he is the devil incarnate, an evil genius, or a moron; as many Lefties in this country believe.

Just another example of a headline designed to grab attention without reflecting anything in the content of the actual written column. The column is about the CPC noting in an email that the LPC must be very confident about winning the election that everyone believes is imminent.

Or could it be that the LPC strategists have come on-board with my own little contrarian theory that Harper won't call an election right now. If the LPC does believe that an election is imminent, and that as everyone expects, it will be a nasty one that the LPC as an organization can ill afford; It does seem a bit odd that now; a week before the writ is expected to be dropped; is the time for staffers to spend their days out on the links.

The caption "Proof positive that Dion Liberals are a bunch of dirty, rotten, elitist golfers" is your creation Mr. McParland; not that of the CPC. Ditto the headline that the CPC hates the game of golf and golfers. A bit of Freudian slip here? Or is it that you're cheesed because you have to stay on duty to cover the 'election' story while the only good golfing weather we've had since May is passing you by
