Gone But Not Forgotten ( Onis M. Kelley)
Feburary 3 , 2009 Onis M. Kelley of Ashley County Arkansas passed away with Terminal Cancer. He was convicted in the alledged Rape of Deanna George in Feburary of 2000, released on Parole, still fighting for his innocents. I have wrote several different stories to nowpublic.com about Onis M. Kelley asking for someone's help to prove that his accuser was lying. Now that he is gone , most would say why keep fighting, Because if everyone gave up, there would be no rights for anyone.
Each person accused of a crime is intitled to a fair and emparsual Trial, but in this case the evidence was'nt what convicted Onis M. Kelley, it was the word of One Selfish Young Girl seeking the attention that a big Trial would bring. The Prosecutor had history with the Diffendant, he had been his Attorney in a Law suit several years before going into the District Attorney's Office. On top of that over half of the Jury knew Onis M. Kelley personally, they either worked with him or they knew him from School as a child. The Officers involved in the investigation were extremely unprofessional, and inconsistant with eveidence they presume to have found, DNA proved that no rape had occured , that the girl had not had sex for several days prior to the alledged Rape.
Life is more important than being recognized or getting attention. We only had him back with us for 14 mths, and he passed away due to Complication with Brain Cancer, Stomach Cancer, and Lung Cancer. The last Month of his life, Myself and his Son Brian took care of him as he was dying , even in the last days of his life he still expressed his innocence to the both of us. We never doughted his innocence for any reason.
During the last year of his life , he lived everyday fighting for his innocence . The Arkansas Innocence Project wrote a letter to him requesting documents to persue his case , before he could gather them he was dianosed with Three different types of Cancer that had already taken over his body, and ultimatly led to his death. In no way or fashion was he guilty of the crime that he was convicted for. I am no Lawyer, but I know that He is an innocent man that was wrongfully convicted in an Arkansas Court , and I will ultimatlly continue to fight for his innocents, I will tell anyone that wants to hear the complete story. I have a story in his words published on Nowpublic.com , Titled Innocent until proven Guilty. The fact of the matter being , is any one Man's Life less important than anothers, just because one does'nt have Money to pay the best Lawyers.
When a Woman falsly accuses a Man of Rape , that makes it hard for those women that have been actually Raped and abused . There should be a Law that convicts a Woman and sentences her to the same sentence that would be placed on an actual Rapist if she is found guilty of falsly accusing any man, Rich or Poor. That would assure stubility in the conviction of actuall crimes against true victums.
I would like to thank Nowpublic.com for the ability to reach out to those that could possibly help Our Family in our quest for getting the truth out , and proving that My Uncle was and always has been an Innocent Man, even though he is no longer with us in body, he is still with us, It is my hope that Justice will prevail even though he is'nt here to see that his name be Cleared !!
