I greet you all and I am very impressed that USA is becoming a social aware nation. That the elite leaders of your country have seen the errors of a buy now pay later society and preference to outsourcing and importing foreign manufactured goods.
That people have became aware of the growing poverty because of the financial melt down. The stock market has not been looking very well for 15 months or so and unemployment has rose at alarming rates especially after the firsts domino’s fell the beginning of the recessions global financial meltdown.
Now America’s problems have escalated out into the global market place as US$ securities in foreign banks became practically worthless because American banks could not back the securities.
The main point is that capitalism has led to large overseas debts in Asia where a constant cash flow into China and India can be balanced by US imports as China in particular has become the main manufacturing center for cost effective luxury produce for the American consumer. USA manufacturing base has been eroded by its own capitalistic corporations plus the many international corporations that have found use of cheap labor and China manufacturers of whom can provide goods for the USA market place more cost effective and profit making than those that could be manufactured on US soil.
Why there is a need for government to become socially aware of its ever increasing problem of collateral damage caused by capitalist methods to make profits by cutting labor costs and directing a main flow of US dollars to increase the development of manufacture and infrastructure of China and now outsourcing employment to India and other English speaking third world developing nations.
Firstly the USA government has allowed capitalism to cause an internal problem and that of increasing poverty that is reaching alarm levels. That if this problem is not fixed there will be civil unrest. So something needs to be done while the problem is manageable further flow of US$ into Asia and further switches of manufacturing would cause a more horrendous financial problem not only in USA but in EU as well as they have a similar problem as well.
So firstly USA does have a responsibility and finds the needs to change into a social democratic society to arrest its internal problem of capitalistic collateral damage that of poverty and unemployment. This does not mean that it reverts to left wing socialism (communism) but hits a center point like United Kingdom of social democracy. This does not mean that the republicans have no chance of sitting in the seat of power, but it does mean like the Conservative Party they need to keep the social democratic system in place. This does not mean that it’s the end of capitalism in USA. As the democrats have to keep to the capitalist path for the sake of profits and business that can be fairly taxed and keep the nation ticking and economically stable.
The whole idea of democratic socialism is to tax everybody that can afford to be taxed slightly more, everybody working is taxed. National Insurance is paid by everybody working. The wealthy are taxed more but the tax should not be too high that they can not afford it and restrict them in investing fresh money into the economy. The extra tax and the main national insurance is an insurance scheme to benefit all citizens that if the fall on very hard times they and their family will benefit until they are back on their feet again.
In all fairness its only national citizens that are allowed to be within this insurance, scheme. It’s obvious that illegal will not be allowed to benefit if they do not pay taxes or national insurance.
The benefit is free health care for all and medicine that only has a small prescription charge. Free dental care. Of course it’s not really free because every body that pay’s into the system as they earn or if they can earn. No more worries about heath insurance, or being sent somewhere else if you have not got a card with you etc.
There has been many retorts by American citizen that have been indoctrinated by political propaganda over many years about socialism. The word socialism has become a word in USA that’s associated in its far left political term which really means communism.
Karl Marx style socialism on the philosophy teaching of Jesus Christ he removed the religious intent and toyed with the philosophy to present what he considers a political solution of everybody being equal and arrest the greed of the elite. Of course it does not work.
But being socially aware of others that are suffering poverty and making plans for every citizen paying an insurance and insuring that money and help is available if fate issues a very bad hand shows social care and that is what social democracy is all about. It’s a mid line political position that I feel shows a social aware moral society, patriotic care.
Of course there are those that will want to work the system the crooks and the lazy good for nothing waste of spaces. But a wise caring government should place anti fraud blocks and police the system well.
If I fell on hard times or was ill, needed an operation, medicine, I would not be placing my hand in someone else’s pocket as I have paid all my dues into the United Kingdom system to secure my wellbeing. I would defiantly not be a free loader.
I congratulate your nation for its swing to social awareness.

America became "socialist" under the republican President Bush when he introduced his $810 billion bailout into the free market system but it was because suddenly Americans understood the need for socialist principles but rather to help out the cronies and their companies which had failed through mismanagement.
Although Americans have been indoctrinated against the ideas of communism since the 1950's, the republicans had to turn to communist China to help them out, but like some would say, "its just business."
The financial crisis was created by capitalism but America won't become a socialist state because too many love money too much. The dollar is the real God, and maybe that's why every dollar bill carries the slogan "In God (the dollar) we trust."
American free market capitalism was based on greed and what you could get away with, that is still continuing at this moment with more and more daily scandals emerging.
Under the leadership of President Bush poverty levels increased to a higher level than most achieved by his father.
80 million Americans are without health care cover, that's one hell of a number, and an almost impossible problem for President Obama to deal with, but I suppose, if there's any president who can solve the health care issue, then it will be him, unless he is defeated in Congress.
Even if President Obama manages to achieve radical changes in the health care system I doubt it will go as far as a "free health care for all." The system will still be funded by the health care companies.

I have been analyzing a global problem for some time now, the problems in USA are related to the moves in a complex chess game. Between USA, EU, Russia and China the problem is that the capitalist have run off shot over a government that's been under capitalistic control. The type of money used in corruption abroad and home is an astounding amount to get political approval and for eyes to be turned the other way.
The policy of shifting the main manufacturing base to the cheapest labor source for the best profit has caused much pain to the citizens in the west because of unemployment governments have now run out of options and the funding to create new jobs themselves (the tunnels and bridges, enlarging airports). With more and money flooding from the western economies into new expanding third world countries and of cause the biggest manufacturing base China. Banks playing around with money securities to other banks then using the money that back the securities for other purposes. The bottom had to fallout of the market.especial that securities had no real money back them all up.
America had too and has to be aware of its growing poverty and as the voice of the people gets louder and louder governments get worried at the threat of civil unrest. So we are there at that point of time and the government now to take control and help it citizens but all so ensure manufacturing comes home.
I am non political but can see the only solution left for President Obama and the power base of the west and that's to make manufacturing abroad very unattractive. He has no over open to please the people out of work. encourage new but cleaner manufacturing bases in the USA. Encourage training projects to retrain those out of work for the new manufacturing bases.
Of course the Capitalist will not like this so Obama's administrations hardest task is to win industralist over.
We also must remember its no just one man in a chair of power but the administration that has the real task of pushing the plans forward wining hearts and minds. To see the power in the leader in the seat of power you have to look past the leaders chair. He will only as good as his adminstration.

maybe we should return to the ancient Chinese idea of paying the doctor. You only paid your doctor when you were well, when you became sick, you stopped paying. If you needed medicine or hospital treatment the doctor had to bear the expense.
The doctor would visit his patients every week to ensure they were staying healthy and to give them selected herd teas to help.

Yes I have heard of the tradition, the Chinese are clever and we should always look at them in that respect.

I am getting a lot of flack for writing an article I deem to be true, but people are jumping on me that its an opinion....What gives here? You know there is a problem....and the solution is looking at Americans right in the face......No need to blush....it's China and its medical ways.
The profit machine can't count any higher so its all down hill here from now on. Get use to it....Realize America hasn't reached a billion a people yet, but when it does......you are going to be looking to Chinese history in how to solve issues, not American history...

Yep, it always amuses me the view on China related by the west, USA's media is always geared to the anti communist propaganda mode. Of course if you live nearer in South east Asia the news media hows more of the facts. You can only really know the USA media political view is totally out of step of what China's really like if you visit, regularly walk of the beaten track or live there. The first time I visited I had a shock, there was people freely going about there normal daily routines, the big cities reminded me instantly of Canada or America of a very modern European city. I was asking my self when sampling the night life the first evening where are the damn communist. Hey no guns, hey no soldiers on street corners. Wow and those beautiful Malls and shops. Modern hospitals, clean taxi's. I was amazed especially no one seemed to be following me around and not many CCTV's.
US citizens want to go sample and see this ridged communist state, the ridged-ness can only be seen at the border crossing points. Psss (finger to mouth) the Chinese people are allowed out to see the world?
Hey wake up America!
