GOP FOPs work to defend Palin's lies and McCain's fantasies
If you are a Friend of Palin (FOP), you are pretty busy these days trying to cover her tracks.
The newest FOP is the Alaska attorney general, appointed by The Sarah.
In a letter to state Sen. Hollis French, the Democrat overseeing the investigation, Republican Attorney General Talis Colberg asked that the subpoenas be withdrawn. He also said the employees would refuse to appear unless either the full state Senate or the entire Legislature votes to compel their testimony.
Colberg, who was appointed by Palin, said the employees are caught between their respect for the Legislature and their loyalty to the governor, who initially agreed to cooperate with the inquiry but has increasingly opposed it since McCain chose her as his running mate.
Notice he doesn't mention anyone's loyalty to the truth, clean government or the state constitution. Tells you a lot about FOPs and The Sarah.
Just yesterday, GOP FOPs went to the courthouse to stop the "Troopergate" ethics investigation she said she welcomed and also vowed her cooperation. Now, she has changed her mind. More likely the Bush campaign thugs hired by McCain decided for her. She is not going to cooperate, especially since her end run with her own investigation ran into a brick wall.
So, GOP FOPs, those folks who hate frivolous lawsuits and "activist" judges went to the courthouse to shut down a legislative investigation. Why am I not surprised? FOP Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) can understand why people shoot "activist judges", but apparently only those who rule against the GOP.
Sarah doesn't want to cooperate and her FOPs don't mind that one bit.
One of her FOPs - an Anchorage shock jock - called local anti-FOPs "maggots" and gave out their telephone numbers over the air, urging his listening FOPs to call. The result was twofold. Yes, it brought a torrent of obscene, ugly and threatening FOP calls to the women. It also galvanized support and anti-Palin forces outnumbered the FOPs at the rally by about 15 to one.
Other FOPs try to convince us that pointing out how it is sexist to point out how Palin lied when she entered the campaign, lied in her convention speech and continues her lying. Yep, FOPs think that saying Paling lied about the Bridge to Nowhere is sexist. FOPs say that attacking her record as mayor is sexist. FOPs say that pointing out Palin was on top of earmarks like a black fly on moose dung is sexist.
Mentioning that this "crusader for reform" embraced now indicted Alaska Republican Sen. Ted Stevens is sexist. Reminding the world, FOPs say, that Palin was was a director of a shady Ted Stevens committee to raise corporate funds is sexist. Showing the campaign ad where Stevens endorsed Palin (she is on the podium with him) is to strike a blow against womanhood, say the FOPs.
Once she said she had nothing to hide from the investigation into her own ethics problems. Now, she's not so sure. Maybe she took a closer look from behind her designer glasses. FOPs will tell you the "you have nothing to fear if you are not guilty" argument they usually embrace does not apply here. The Sarah is immune from investigation, so say the FOPs.
FOPs say that calling Sarah Palin a liar is sexist. They don't tell you they can't defend her lies.
The most ludicrous FOP activity is invoking the name of Hillary Clinton. Once she was the cursed Hillary, now, for purely partisan and hypocritical reasons, she is embraced by the FOPs, as they try to sell Palin as the Hillary alternative. Heck, Palin isn't even Hillary-lite, no matter what the FOPs say. Hillary has strongly resisted any of the FOPs embraces, hugs, kisses or butt slaps. In fact, despite the FOPs' lies, Hillary is the light to Palin's darkness.
Then, there is John McCain and his lies. First he has trouble deciding which side he is on (he recently resurrected his despised immigration bill). He now is against abortion and for bank regulation (as of this writing). He invents fantasy attacks by Obama on Palin. FOPs (in this case, Friend of Prevaricator) pick up the call and charge forth. FOP's don't care that it's untrue.
FOPs apparently share one thing with Sarah Palin - win at any cost.
Lying is one of those Ten Commandments which don't apply to celebrities in the Assemblies of God.
Adultery, even two counts of it, do not matter to the evangelical FOPs. It doesn't apply when it is a FOP-certified celebrity.
FOPs can be expected to continue their lies, smears and delusional defenses of the McCain-Bush/Palin-Stevens ticket.
It is up to reasoning people to put their sholder to the wheel and counter the lies of McCain, Palin and their lock-stepping FOPs.
Those who wish futher documentation other than that cited above are urged to read the following:

More of the same. Every time the Republicans step in it, they rally the lawyers up. Don't be surprised if we hear in the near future that they refuse to talk unless it is off the record and not under oath. Sound familiar? Bush's advisors and lawyers, including one that is prosecuting terrorists, is up there now. WTF? This took presidence over terrorism?

This is the same thing The Bush White House has been doing for his whole term. Just keep blocking the truth from the Public. Seems like McCain will be Bush Three!

It seems for some odd reason democrats are against what is right. They are pro-abortion, heterophobic, pro-terrorist, anti-individual rights and anti-Christian. When will they stop being so hateful?

Why do Republicans always use this tactic to try and stop debate? Because they need to continually manipulate "values voters" in order to maintain power. If you believe for a minute that a powerful politician actually cares about any of the issues you list above on a personal level you are a victim of manipulation. Republicans are most concerned about winning elections and funeling money to thier friends. Here are a few of the things values voters have given us: Iraq war, Wall Street bailouts, failed war in Afganistan, Larry Craig, federal prosecutors being used for politics instead of to fight crime.
The idea that the government is going to protect us on a spiritual level is ridiculous. Isn't that what faith is supposed to do?
What the Republicans have done is turned fear against values voters stealing your tax dollars and using them to fund an unjustified war in Iraq, and speculation by the rich on Wall Street. By letting an election hinge on which party is going to protect the immortal soul of the country by adhearing to Christian values the Republicans have stolen the last three elections, and delivered nothing in return.
I am very tired of seeing Democratic protection of our secular government, which values every view, twisted into an attach on Christianity. It just is not the case. The fact that people let a single issue dominate their voting choice is disturbing, and the Bush administration is a perfect example.

THE Republican presidential nominee, John McCain, and his running mate, Sarah Palin, have come under intense pressure over distortions and half-truths.
A dozen columnists and editorials took Senator McCain to task over the weekend over an advertisement that claimed that his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, wanted to "teach children about sex before they can read". Senator Obama supported a bill for sex education in schools from kindergarten to year 12, but the early years of the program focused on stranger danger and inappropriate touching.
The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe have also carried investigative reports on claims made by Mrs Palin as Alaskan Governor, and during her six years as Mayor of Wasilla, a town of 7000 residents.
They painted a picture of a tyrant prepared to sack long-time staff and surround herself with ill-qualified classmates.
The New York Times reported that one of these, a former real estate agent, was made director of the State Division of Agriculture after citing her childhood love of cows as a qualification. The paper said it had interviewed 60 Republican and Democratic legislators and local officials.
Virtually every media group in the country has now concluded that Mrs Palin exaggerated her claim in her acceptance speech that she said "Thanks, but no thanks to the Bridge to Nowhere", a notorious federally funded project that involved building a bridge to a remote island in Alaska.
Throughout the campaign Senator McCain has cited it as the most egregious example of pork-barrel spending.
But while running for governor, Mrs Palin supported the project, which was backed by the Republican senator Ted Stevens. She later withdrew state funding after the project became a liability and its costs blew out.
As for being a cost-cutter, The Boston Globe reported that Alaska's spending had increased substantially under Governor Palin and she had added $US4 billion in new capital projects over two years and salted away $US6 billion in reserves. This was possible because of high oil prices and increased collections from the industry.
And then there are her claims about her overseas travel. The Boston Globe revealed that she made it no further into Iraq than the Kuwait-Iraq border checkpoint to meet troops.
