GOP Lawmakers Say Muslim Interns in Congressional Offices = Spies
In the 1950's, there were witch hunts for supposed communists who had infiltrated the U.S. government. Recently, four Republicans claimed that there were muslim spies serving as interns in D.C. congressional offices.
Four House Republicans — Paul Broun (R-GA), Trent Franks (R-AZ), Sue Myrick (R-NC) and John Shadegg (R-AZ) — announced they would be asking the House sergeant-at-arms to investigate claims in a new book that the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim lobby group in DC, is trying to plant Muslim spies as interns on the Hill.CAIR met those allegations with outrage and ridicule, saying that the evidence the authors mustered amounts to little more than records of typical lobbying activities.
As Rachel Maddow pointed out on her show Tuesday night, the book in question — Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America — was published by WorldNetDaily, a conservative news site best known for promoting conspiracy theories such as the claim that the Obama administration is setting up concentration camps for conservatives.

The question is are there? If not then so be it. If so then expose it. Simple enough.

Rachel Maddow is a "Witch". I listened to her once and could not believe her bias and
obvious arrogance . Another reason their ratings have gone down the toilet.

Having never watched Rachel Maddow, I cannot comment on her.
Attempts by House of Representatives people to incite discontent and suspicion is reminiscent of McCarthyism and should be intercepted for the bigotry it represents and stopped.

There were plenty of real communists in the State Dept at the time of McCarthy.
Alger Hiss was Number One as Undersecretary of State and the actual author of the agreements at Potsdam, the selling out of Eastern Europe to Alger Hiss's boss, Joe Stalin.
Whittaker Chambers' biography Witness is an excellent telling of the tale. Chambers was Hiss's handler. Hiss sued and lost and four separate biographers who tried to prove Hiss innocent changed their minds.
The HUAC committee in the House of Representatives made mistakes, but McCarthy has been proven right by history.
There were many, many other actual agents of the Kremlin. This has all been verified by what was dug up after the fall of communism.
Nothing all that secret gets discussed but there are problems with CAIR and I believe that they would plant "agents" if they could.. CAIR is unindicted co-conspirator in at least one case of raising funds for terrorist organizations.
So, it is legitimate for the senators to look into what CAIR may be doing and, once again, McCarthy did not name one person a communist who was not subsequently proven a communist even if it took 40 years to prove it.

McCarthy never actually named the supposed communists in the government, so you're right he was never proven wrong. That's called a vague accusation.
I could claim there were Muslim Spies on NowPublic, without naming names, and you'd never be able to prove me wrong either Roy.
It's called "fearmongering."
McCarthy was not proven right by history, quite the opposite. He also died a very sad and lonely man.

These congressman are not saying these folks are spies. They want to ask the appropriate person to investigate claims that appear in a book. There is no quote that any of these folks said there are Muslim spies in the Capital.
BTW there is a CAIR internal Memo that says just that -

Camera Guy, that title of that article is so non-objective and a distortion of what they actually said.
The article explains it well. No necessary inference was suggested by the republican senators but CAIR needs to be stopped.
That is not "McCarthyism".

Sorry Roy, the GOP lawmakers are claiming there are spies in the US government based upon a debunked book pubished by the wing nuts at WorldNetDaily.
It is definitely McCarthyism, broad accusations with no proof.

Roy
I know you are a supporter of McCarthyism, so in the interest of being consistent, I understand your position.
My allusions were directed to proffering fear and suspicion. Perhaps a better analogy would be the internment of American Japanese after Pearl Harbor.

Supporter of McCarthyism?
I support finding out who the spies are. That is not "McCarthyism".
THe Japanese were interned along with Germans and Italians but no one feels sorry for them because they were white, as far as I can understand.
The point here is that the "McCarthyism" of hysterical and false charges is being done by CameraObscure and by CAIR.
CAIR really does support criminal activity. That is what it means to be an "un-indicted co-conspirator".
These are not the "good Muslims". I know a few and they don't think like CAIR.
Call the accusations a "witch hunt" is a lie, as well, and is McCarthyism.
This article is McCarthyism.

If the article was McCarthyism I would be accusing people in the article of being anti-American, which I do not.
I have made no false charges at all.

Hitler incarcerated Polish, French, Jehovah Witnesses, and even Germans; but that doesn't make the Holocaust any less horrific, nor does it make the sufferings of non Jews less deplorable.

They may be blowing stuff around the world, but there has not been one convicted muslim in the US as a spy. However, many Jews have been convicted as spys in the US. Israel keeps getting gazillions of US $$ by the efforts of Jewish lobby groups. Start looking at the obvious.
